Why Models and Editors Are Covering Up This Season
We’ve been saying it for years, but you don’t have to show skin to be sexy. In collaboration with Moda Operandi.
Remember when bandage dresses, micro-mini skirts, and stilettos were the thing? While we do still love a mini-skirt moment, something about revealing it all has started to feel a little bit...tired. Lately we’re craving wide-leg trousers, paired with mutton-sleeved tops, or high-necked blouses with swingy, mid-calf skirts. Never has it felt cooler, or more refreshing, to favor a slightly more covered-up look.
Modest dressing is certainly not a new concept, but in muted tones and bold silhouettes, it feels entirely fresh this fall. Here’s how we’re wearing the look.
Shades of Tan
Never underestimate the power of beige. It’s a classic for a reason: It always looks chic, but is never flashy.
Keep It Soft
We love the softness of a pair of paper-bag-waist trousers, especially when worn with a minimalist floral, high-neck top and low slingbacks.
Mix It Up
Neutrals not your thing? Mix a turtleneck shirt with a wild printed skirt and knee-high boots for a look that’s slightly edgier, while still covered.
