Luxury Beauty Awards: Best in Lips

Because there's pretty much nothing a swipe of $$$ lipstick can't fix.

Luxury Beauty Awards: Best in Lips

Empty the bags of any of the editors here at The Coveteur HQ and you'll likely find an army of lip products. Lip balms galore, three similar—but different—shades of nude, red and berry lipsticks, matching liners (it's key, guys), tinted lip stains... the works. Because as much as we're the no-makeup makeup types during the week (read: lazy) some days just call for a fuchsia stain, and we're pretty sure that a matte red before heading out for post-work drinks is the key to looking put together when you really feel like a big ol' mess. So in the very last edition of our Beauty Awards (stay tuned, though...) we rounded up Coveteur-approved lip products, from highly pigmented pencils to barely-there balms. Suffice to say, if you don't have Ruby Woo or Dragon girl in your makeup bag already, you should probably head to Sephora. Just saying.

Lip Color

"My most loved makeup product of all time is Shiseido Kabuki lipstick. It's the lipstick used by Geishas. It's appears to be a dry crayon, but dip it in water and it comes alive. A painterly red that almost has an emotional intensity to it. When I was in Tokyo, a Japanese assistant gave it to me as a gift. Even the little box it comes in is romantic and very, very special."- Alice Lane

MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo and NARS Velvet matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl. I'm a red lipstick girl all day. These two matte formulas are my favorites because they both have a vibrant blue-based finish. You can't go wrong with either one.”- Kahlana Barfield

Marc Jacobs' Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick in Smack, Pop Rock and Pow! The Marc Jacobs line is great, these sticks are moisturizing, applies like velvet, and comes in a beautiful variety of colors.”- Francesca Tolot

CHANEL and MAC for lipsticks.”- Martha Ward

"My mother has actually used Estée Lauder’s lipsticks since I was a little girl and I remember going through her vanity and playing with the gorgeous gold tubes. The products have been with me for a long time!"- Hilary Rhoda

“I am a big fan of NARS for lipstick.” - Amber Valletta

“I like Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Envious for winter and Impassioned for summer.”- Carolyn Murphy

"I can't live without my Stila All Day Lipstick in Beso.”- Blaire Eadie

Cruella Red Lipstick.”- Aziza Azim

Benefit’s Lip/Cheek Tint are my favorites. Also M.A.C.’s Ladybug lipstick or Russian Red for a night out.”- Masha Mitroshina

“I carry Beauty Counter nude lip sheer in my purse.”- Casey Fremont Crowe

Tom Ford lipsticks are so fantastic.”- Chrissy Teigen

“A lip gloss by Charlotte Tilbury. In the evening I change my makeup by adding a red lip, such as MAC’s Ruby Woo."- Deena Abdulaziz

“I'm into Pleasure Bomb from MAC's collection with Rihanna (I think it's out of stock but I begged the PR rep for my own supply). Or Charlotte Tilbury's Red Carpet Red.”- Elaine Welteroth

Make Up For Ever makes the best long lasting lip color I have ever used. One side is a creamy liquid and the other side is a gloss. It can be a bit dry and sticky, so you kind of have to use the gloss end, but I tend to just blot down the gloss as I prefer a matte red lip. This color DOES NOT BUDGE. You can even eat pasta with butter or have a full on make out session and it won't come off. It's amazing."- Fiona Stiles

"Hourglass Cosmetics' Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick has amazing staying power. It stays on when you eat and drink but is still moist enough that your lips will look lush rather than dry and cakey." - Kayleen McAdams

"I am completely obsessed with the Sephora Liquid Lip Stains. I am normally not a fan of lip colors that are long lasting only because they seem to always make lips look chapped and flaky. It is the perfect velvet, matte, classic red and it will stay on for hours. If you're a fan of NARS Dragon Girl or MAC Ruby Woo, this is your new lover.”- Kristin Hilton

“Red lips make me feel more powerful, so I easily have three to four in my bag at a time. However, Sephora Cream Lipstain in Always Red is the one I reach for the most. It’s the boldest true red ever, and it lasts even after eating dinner.”- Milly Almodovar

MAC Ruby Woo because it's a matte lipstick that doesn't budge.”- Harley Viera Newton

Dragon Girl Lip Pencil by NARS is also a must—I manage to carry it around everywhere I go.”- Chelsea Leyland

Stila Stay All Day lipstick in Tersoro.” - Hannah Bronfman

Lip Balm

“I apply KORA Organics Vitamin Enhanced Lip Balm to my lips and as a highlighter on my cheekbones."- Miranda Kerr

"We can't live without Dr. Hushka Lip Balm.”- Chloe & Marielou Bartoli

“Inside my bag you’ll find NARS Pure Sheer Lip Treatment.” - Erin Heatherton

"I love YSL lip balm.”- Amy Astley

“Finish off with Shiseido Benefiance Full Correction Lip Treatment.”- Wendy Rowe

“I always have Fresh rose lip balm in my bag.”- Annina Mislin

“I always apply a lip balm like Lucas PaPaw or Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm depending on how dry the lips are!”- Amber Dreadon

“I love YSL Volupté Sheer Candy [lip balm] in hot pink. It’s the best color—super intense hot pink, in the sheerest formula. It makes anyone look prettier.”- Jean Godfrey-June

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments in Tulip have replaced those lipsmackers from my teens. My lips are always dry, and this not only hydrates them, but leaves me with a very pretty sheer color. Plus I love the SPF 15.” - Milly Almodovar
