My current everyday makeup look is simple, but I’ve perfected it. It’s easy, fuss-free, takes less than 10 minutes, and I always embrace a lip change. When I heard that Clinique dropped its new Nude Honey lipstick, a sister shade to the mega viral Black Honey lipstick, I wanted to check it out. As the newest Honey shade, the brand promises a flexible nude that works on every complexion. On the hunt for a my-lips-but-better shade, I wanted to see if Nude Honey could fit the bill. To learn more about my experience with the lipstick, keep reading for my honest review.
My Usual Makeup Routine

As much as I try to keep my lips hydrated, they tend to be quite dry. To be comfortable, I always wear a conditioning lip balm even if I apply lip color on top. Right now, I’m using the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm. It hydrates and softens my lips well, and I find that I don’t have to reapply it as often as I do when I use other lip conditioners.
Day-to-day, my go-to makeup look errs on the natural side; I give my brows more shape, wear concealer, add color to my cheeks, and put a lip on. For over a week, I tested out Nude Honey, getting a feel for how it wore on my lips and complemented my skin tone.

Joining its iconic predecessors Black Honey and Pink Honey, Clinique‘s Nude Honey is the newest shade in the Honey lineup. Using a balanced blend of warm and cool pigments, this lipstick is a flexible shade that looks different on every skin tone. An easily wearable lip product, Nude Honey provides a buildable wash of color and a soft shine finish while conditioning the lips.
Most of the time, my lip look involves a brown lip pencil and my color of the moment, but lately, I’ve been interested in finding a color that’s a bit more natural and doesn’t require as many steps. The Clinique Nude Honey Almost Lipstick is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Typically, I’m not the biggest fan of lip products with high shine for daily wear. I tend to gravitate towards matte or satin textures so I don’t have to reapply my lip product as often throughout my day, but Nude Honey has a level of shine and coverage I love. When I applied the lipstick for the first time, I was impressed by its buttery texture, sheer, buildable coverage, and conditioning feel.
I also found that I could wear the lipstick for a couple of hours without needing to reapply it. The only time I had to reapply the lip color sooner was when I ate foods like pasta or burgers, which, in my opinion, makes complete sense—I wouldn’t expect a creamy lipstick like Nude Honey to last through a meal.
Giving my lips the perfect amount of color, the cool and warm pigments in the lipstick accentuated my complexion and went on like a dream, giving my lips a soft brown wash of color. Easily replacing the lipstick I’m currently using, Nude Honey is my new go-to for an easy, everyday lip look.
Worth It?

Priced at about $25, I think the cost of the Nude Honey lipstick is reasonable. It’s pricier than a drugstore lip product, but on par with the average cost of a prestige lipstick. Since this lipstick is quite sheer, I don’t see it lasting as long as a satin or matte lip product before needing to repurchase it, but this product can still last a couple of months.
TL;DR
Simplifying my daily lip routine, the Clinique Nude Honey Almost Lipstick provided a buildable wash of color while complementing my complexion and leaving my lips feeling moisturized. Lasting longer than the sheer, buttery lipsticks I’m used to, I could wear the lipstick for several hours without needing to reapply it. Priced well, I can see myself repurchasing Nude Honey and would recommend it to someone else looking for their perfect nude shade.
