Racks on racks of shiny new things have, admittedly, kind of become our calling card. But nothing quite does it for us like walking into someone's place only to be greeted by copious pop culture curiosities, tchotchkes and knick-knacks with anecdotes to accompany each and every one. In other words, our work was more or less cut out for us the moment we walked inside Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino's Los Angeles bungalow. Give us some credit—we can throw down with more than just
archival Tom Ford, k?
Lets put it this way: it was almost as if the contents of each corner were dedicated to their own handful of cultural touchstones to bond over. From her Joni Mitchell varsity jacket to the bottle of customized Jack Daniels from the set of 30 Rock (given to her by Tina Fey) to her crop top and matching miniskirt with Beyoncé's face in all-over print, and that Denzel Washington wine goblet. Oh, and the paper-thin, worn-in-to-perfection Public Enemy and Selena concert tees she scored from Etsy and Wasteland, respectively. "It's like weirdly sexy when you're just wearing a big ass t-shirt as a dress with some cute shoes. I love it,” she explained as we pulled them out of one of her two (!) closets. Guys, Los Angeles square footage is no joke.
Cosentino's wardrobe(s) weren't without their fashion girl-y touches, either, though: namely, her buttery brown suede
CHANEL backpack with fringe and
Adidas Superstar sneakers. But if there's one set of memorabilia that really nails it for Cosentino, it's the
6ix's very own @champagnepapi. Turns out Cosentino has a bit of what she calls a "crazy obsession" with
the rapper—and the two have way more in common than she might think. "I just kind of started Best Coast for fun and now I'm here. It's pretty crazy." Guys. Do we even need to say it?
