Harley Viera Newton's Daily De-brief: Prabal Gurung SS/15
Barely there, glowing skin with a hint of tinted moisturizer, a slicked back, second-day pony... no, we're not describing your go-to pre, post, or during cardio look (this time, at least). And while we too were admittedly slightly puzzled at the premise of the pony making a runway return, leave it to Prabal Gurung (plus industry legend and TRESemmé Stylist Paul Hanlon) to bring the 'do back from the dressed-down-albeit-dependable depths of SoulCycle.

Referencing the designer's Himalayan trek-tinged motifs; Hanlon got to work handcrafting a fleet of messy-meets-meticulous ponies for Gurung's girls (including Binx Walton and Hanne Gaby Odiele, in case you needed further proof that everything he touches turns to insouciant, ineffable cool).
In an effort to score a little of that nonchalant, model-off-duty poise for ourselves, we tasked our backstage NYFW correspondent, Harley Viera Newton, with not only tracking down Gurung and Hanlon, but also recreating the look on herself—both of which she tackled with considerable aplomb. What are fashion week friends for, right?

The Sporty Pony

You will need…

- TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Mousse
- Wide tooth comb
- Elastic
- TRESemmé Texture Style Velvet Crème
- Hair dryer.

Step 1

Apply TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Mousse to the roots, section by section, ensuring full coverage by working upwards from the nape of the neck up to the part.

Step 2

Comb through hair with a wide tooth comb to create some separation between the hair. Run your fingers through hair to accentuate the texture further. Leave mousse to dry naturally rather than use a hair dryer to give extra hold and add layers to the look.

Step 3

Pull the hair back tightly from the sides of the head and down to create a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Secure tightly with an elastic.

Step 4

Smoothe a small amount of TRESemmé Texture Style Velvet Crème onto the tail of the ponytail and twist it into a loose knot. Blast with a hair dryer to achieve natural movement in the ends.
