Nasiba Adilova

Editor, Buro247. Dallas

Nasiba Adilova may have been two Stella McCartney steps behind the whole Russian fash pack of Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Anya Ziourova and Vika Gazinskaya for a while, but we’re firm believers that she’s been spearheading this whole invasion. And if you keep tabs on @Naseebs (we’re on a nickname basis, clearly) the way we have for the last little while, you’d assume she calls Moscow home much like the others. The kicker? She’s stashing her stockpile of Mary Katrantzou, Jonathan Saunders, Nicholas Kirkwood and Céline in none other than Texas, her current home of the mo’.

We caught up with Naseebs while in town with the W Hotels and CFDA as part of the #WCFDA Designer Showcase (coming soon to a Coveteur near you!). After stalking keeping a close eye on her sartorial choices from New York to Paris to, well, anywhere, we were eager to see beyond her suitcase and dive stiletto first into her closet. Turns out you can take the girl out of Russia, but you can’t take Russia out of the girl. And while most of us small-minded, never-traveled-to-Texas folk assume it’s all cowboy boots, hats and big hair (half true according to Courtney Kerr), Naseebs is quick to note the similarities, yes, you read that right, between Dallas and Russia.

“Dallas reminds me a lot of Russia: women here are not afraid to push boundaries, test their style, wear statement pieces and be bold in the way they dress,” she told us.

And she’s appropriately adopted her style to fit that of her Texas peers: “Feminine with a (cowboy) twist!” And, yes, she totally owns a pair of cowboy boots...and a hat.

But when it comes to giving her closet the proper TLC, Naseebs admits she’s not the best, er, caretaker. “If my shoes could talk, they would say I'm a bad, bad shoe owner! I believe there are women who can wear shoes neatly, and those who cannot! I am so terrible with shoes that after one wear, they get scuffed up and I manage somehow to ruin the heels on every one of them!” Good thing she’s got a closet organizer, right? “I'm a mess when it comes to clothes. When I start to get ready it looks like a tornado went through the closet!”
