Model. New York
“No one can really prepare you to be comfortable in front of a camera until you just get out there and do it,” model Hilary Rhoda told us. And after working the lens of everyone (starting with Bruce Weber), Rhoda was a clearly a natural in front of our own. The fresh face of Estée Lauder had her glam squad (Fere Shirvani for make-up and Sasha Alekseyeva for hair) pop by beforehand. After playing with her adorable pooches, Winnie and Chloe, (both were "total impulse buys"), we were eager to chat about (what else?) her beauty regime. Rhoda’s secret? Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. She told us about her special relationship with the brand, "My mother has actually used their lipsticks since I was a little girl and I remember going through her vanity and playing with the gorgeous gold tubes. The products have been with me for a long time!" Rhoda's closet was filled with model-off-duty staples like Alexander Wang combat boots, ocular rainbow-hued bibs by Dannijo, and a well-worn dyed PS1. "After it sat in my closet unused for about a year, I decided to take it to my shoe repairman to have it dyed. I picked the color, and now it’s like a brand new bag!" Being a model has it's obvious advantages, and rubbing shoulders with both up-and-coming and big-name designers only sweetens the deal. When we came across her jaw-dropping Fendi she told us, "The baguette [bag] was a gift from the design house after I hosted a party for them in New York to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the bag." And while we fell hard for her bejeweled baguette, it was her Nike kicks collection that really won our hearts. You can be sure to spot the SoulCycle addict; she’s the one in the colorful soles.
