Everything to Pack for Your Road Trip to Coachella
Packing for the desert presents a specific set of challenges.

Every year musicians, “It” girls, and music fans all venture a few hours outside of Los Angeles for two back-to-back weekends of performances, parties, and temporary glitter tattoos. Whether you’re planning on going or not, the road trip from L.A. to that area is beautiful and totally worth your while. But, because the climate varies a lot in that area (as in swinging between boiling hot during the day, and freezing at night), you’ll need to pack wisely.
LAYER UP
An Alpha Industries bomber is a perfect fit for your desert aesthetic. Form and function allows you to layer this over your favorite merch hoodie or even a vintage Levi’s denim jacket should it be cold enough to require that (it’s totally possible!).
A good pair of relaxed denim like Citizens’ Liya style, a few t-shirts (we love New York-based brand Knowlita’s New York Old Soul or that Gucci tee), and a bulky hoodie from Acne will get you through the range of temperatures around the clock.
ACCESSORIZE
You must bring sunglasses. Surprise! It's bright driving in the desert. Pack a few pairs—ideally bright, fun ones that aren’t so expensive that you’ll freak out if you *misplace* them. You’ll also want a beanie for evening parties and sun-blocking hat for day, along with a bandanna and a bag big enough to hold your sunscreen, water, cell phone, hand sanitizer...whatever you need to feel comfortable.
FOOTWEAR
Miraculously, you can pull off a range of your favorite footwear out in the desert. It definitely depends on the activity and the fit, but don’t limit yourself. (Let your suitcase do that for you.) Pack at least one pair of sneakers, and save space for ankle booties and sandals.
YOU CAN STILL PULL OFF A LOOK
Just because you’re kinda out there in what might feel like the middle of nowhere does not mean you cannot still pull off a look. We’re feeling jumpsuits and flowy dresses—they’ll look great in your million-and-one Instagrams from the road (don’t pretend like that doesn’t factor in to your planning), and they’re perfect for daytime activities at the festival too.
