As we wrap up 2016, we’re taking a look back at some of your favorite closets over the course of the year. We’ve shot *a lot* of amazing people (and a whole lot of amazing shoes, bags, clothes, jewelry, cars...you get the picture), but these are the ones you, dear reader, loved the most.
New York Fashion Week has come and gone—in fact, the whole of fashion month is now behind us, and we feel both relief and...what? Emptiness? (Or is that just time?) But, to be honest, we’re still feeling the effects because as much as we hustled our occasionally Pilates-toned behinds to various shows, Fashion Week is also the time when we’re hopping from hotel room to hotel room to unpack the bags (upon bags) of fashion people flying in from around the world.
Which is exactly how we ended up at 1 Hotel Central Park on a particularly cold Friday going through a rack of clothes brought all the way from the Philippines by Liz Uy—who is probably the most fresh-faced person to have come off a long-haul flight less than 24 hours earlier that we’ve ever met. (We were later to learn that the woman has a lot of beauty secrets packed into her Mansur Gavriel—and she’s sharing them .)
See, between living in the Philippines, working for Style: Singapore in, uh, Singapore, and traveling the world at the drop of a hat to sit front-row at shows like Sacai and Alexander McQueen, Uy, a stylist and editor, has perfected the art of Fashion Week packing. Case in point: her (quite literally) drool-worthy wardrobe—it’s the epitome of maximum impact with minimal try-hard-ness (that’s a thing, right?). Witness her sequined Tibi suit, all the Delpozo we’ve ever wanted, a brand-new (first time we’ve ever seen it) furry bag by Marchesa, and silk Fleur du Mal jumpsuit—all accented with shoes by Tom Ford and Ann Demeulemeester (rare!) and bags from CHANEL and Loewe, along with her professional-level eyeliner skills (again,). Let’s just say we’re taking notes for next season.
