Zoe Kravitz's 'Caught Stealing' Press Tour Looks Have Been A Masterclass In Simplicity
TLDR: less is more is often the correct answer.

Throughout the entire month of August, Zoe Kravitz has used her 'Caught Stealing' press tour as an opportunity to teach a masterclass on personal style, seamlessly throwing together outfits, and looking effortlessly cool with the help of her stylist, Danielle Goldberg, of course. She has us rethinking what needs to be built into our rotation of basics, believing that dressy and casual pairings can be a win, and reaffirming that vintage Saint Laurent is always a good choice, not that we ever had doubts.
In her new film ‘Caught Seating’, set in an iconic ‘90s New York City, her character’s style feels like an extension of her. Yvvone, the character in the film, has a closet filled with things that it seems like Kravitz would actually wear: perfectly worn out basics, mid wash jeans, and microbangs that Kravitz, herself, wouldn't be afraid to experiment with.
From reminders that simplicity is often the correct answer and that statement pieces aren’t actually necessary to make a statement, it’s finally time for us to honor all of her 'Caught Stealing' press tour looks.

At the US premiere of 'Caught Stealing' on August 26th, clad in a Saint Laurent maxi skirt and crop top set from 1999 that seems like it was literally made for her, Kravitz reminded us that you don't really need statement pieces (or accessories) to make a statement: a perfectly tailored and ruched Saint Laurent skirt and toned torso are enough.

Ahead of her premiere night in New York City, Kravitz gave us affirmation and new insight into what should definitely be included in our rations of basics: raglan tees, midi skirts, and, of course, a classic black ballet flat.

With a wet hair look and coffee in hand, Kravitz greeted fans in a relaxed, unstructured navy-blue set and did what some of us may have previously thought of as unthinkable: paired a dressy suit-inspired look with flip flops. In other words, Kravitz has us rethinking the "rules" of styling, and if there are any rules at all.

At the Paris premiere of 'Caught Stealing', Kravitz reminded us of the power of a tiny, lace-hemmed, Saint Laurent slip dress and strappy heel.

At a photo call in France, a simple white cropped tank does a lot of heavy lifting, even though paired with a simple, sleek black maxi skirt. And, we're reminded that the side part is so back.

In the day and age of oversized, over embellished, and over complicated looks, Kravitz remains drawn to tried and true details: a black Saint Laurent gown with a halter neckline, a high slit, and a contrasting white bow detail.

If all else fails, an off-white midi dress and black ballet flats will always work. But, for Kravitz, this look didn't feel like a cop out or last resort. It felt like an homage to styles, silhouettes, and eras that are, and always will be. relevant.
For an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers”, Kravitz pulled inspiration from eras past: a cropped black waistcoat, wrapped choker, and vintage silver Nike sunglasses, for example. The look is, of course, completed with our favorite detail of all: a classic black and white bandana tied at the back of her head, '90s-style. She also reminded us that a slightly baggy low-rise trouser will always look effortlessly cool. Bonus points if they're pinstriped.
