Western-Inspired Accessories That Aren’t Just For Horse Girls
Getty Images

Western wear has been having its moment for many many moons now, and as each runway collection is dropped, so emerges more Western-inspired accessories to help us embrace our best cowgirl life.

The references are both subtle and heavy. Take Dsquared2, for example, who for Fall/Winter 25 sent a myriad of Western nods down the runway, from two-gallon hats to bedazzled belt buckles and ultra-tough western looks. Or Texan-born Daniel Roseberry, who for Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 25 Ready-to-Wear collection, made a more subtle homage to cowboy culture with layered statement belts and shearling collars.

At Valentino, Alessandro Michele has ushered in a new sense of bohème, which comes replete with suede and fringe and studs. Is it ‘70s or is it Western? Why not both? Even queen of prep Miuccia Prada is slinging cowboy boots and flashy belts as a part of the modern woman’s wardrobe.

As we are all aware, chief cowgirl Bella Hadid has been sporting the silhouette for many years, especially after publicly debuting her real-life cowboy boyfriend Adan Banuelos; meanwhile Lana Del Rey is creating (and periodically dropping tracks from) a country album. Will our obsession with western ever dwindle? It’s seeming unlikely.

If you, too, are caught in its grips like I am, below are my Western accessory picks for a very cowgirl summer. Giddy up!

Valentino Garavani Nellcote Suede Crossbody Bag

A buttery suede shoulder bag with the perfect western details. Worn by It-girls like Bella Hadid, Alexa Chung, and Amelia Gray, Valentino’s new staple shape has swiftly become the bag of the season.

Saint Laurent Jamie Shopping Bag

Saint Laurent’s classic Jamie Shopping bag is introduced in a soft suede fabric, adding a lived-in effect to this already-slouchy silhouette. The tassels on the side to tighten the shape of the bag only add to the Western feel.

Bottega Veneta Foulard Top Handle Brushed Vichy bag

A classic western accessory—the foulard—is adapted into a slouchy leather shoulder bag with a brushed silk cover. Need we say more? This piece adds a cowgirl charm in the most luxurious way possible.

Miu Miu Metal Belt with Crystals

Embellished belts have always carried a sense of western charm, and this Miu Miu version is no exception to add an air freespiritedness to your look.

Saint Laurent Folk Buckle Belt

A sleek, sophisticated option for those who want to dip their toe into the western trend. This piece from Saint Laurent is subtle and timeless.

Gimaguas Casilda Belt

A fun, modern interpretation of the western trend without feeling over indulgent. We love the graduated waist band that has an early-aughts air to it.

Acne Studios Leather Ankle Boots

If there’s one thing Acne Studios can do well, it’s a perfect Cuban-heeled boot. This shape feels modern, commanding, and timeless.

Khaite Marfa Classic Flat Knee High Boots

With a small Cuban heel and a pointed toe, these chocolate suede boots subtly interpret a cowboy boot shape without feeling overt or gimmicky.

Isabel Marant Altena Foulard

It’s not a western shopping edit without an Isabel Marant Foulard in tow. This red version will add the perfect amount of cowgirl cool to any look.
