, Mosha Lundström decided to launch her own brand. In 2017 she teamed up with her mom, Linda Lundström, and her sister, Sophie Lundström, to introduce

Therma Kōta

, a Toronto-based (and made) shearling coat brand that has since been worn by Michelle Obama, Iceland’s First Lady Eliza Reid, and Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau.

“My wedding in Iceland four years ago sparked the idea,” Lundström tells us. “I wore a sequin-embellished, full-skirted ivory parka—a handmade creation by my mother. The response to that coat, from

, was truly remarkable. I went to my sister and mom with this idea to create coats that could be worn in a blizzard, but also, you know, with a silk evening dress.” Inspired by “the natural wonders of the North and Nordic regions,” all Therma Kōta coats are reversible and sustainably made to measure in Canada. Plus, each piece comes with a pair of mitts made from excess shearling—a sartorial effort to reduce waste.
