Summer is upon us, and this inevitably means it's time for us to put away the trench coats and consider what we might like to wear when the heat gets borderline unbearable. Spring was all about light layers, peplum, chartreuse, and texture. For summer, it's already been declared that Tiffany Blue is the color of the season, retro prints are seemingly back, and balloon pants are getting a lot of love on and off the runway. As we dive into the hottest season, we're rounding up the key trends from the Spring/Summer 2026 runways to offer the most coveted silhouettes for the season. Ahead, 7 summer trends to add to your wardrobe this year.
Breakfast At Tiffany's
From left: Burberry SS26; Chanel Haute Couture SS26; Prada SS26 // LaunchmetricsTurquoise, or more specifically, Tiffany blue, has been hailed the color of the season this year, and for good reason! We love the cooling, calming effect a tropical blue has, and seemingly so did Matthieu Blazy at Chanel Spring/Summer 2026 Haute Couture, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons at Prada Spring/Summer 2026, and Daniel Lee at Burberry Spring/Summer 2026.
Sports Mode
AREA SS26; Prada SS26; Balenciaga SS26; Loewe SS26 // LaunchmetricsThis season we noticed plenty of sporty moments on the runway. At Loewe, it was a combination of gorp-core and water sports, while at Area's Spring/summer 2026 show, it was all about reworked jerseys crafted into eveningwear and statement silhouettes. At Balenciaga, racerback leather tank tops were paired with textural skirts.
Wrapped Up
Celine SS26; Chanel Cruise 2027; Hermes SS26; Christopher Esber Pre-Fall 2026 // LaunchmetricsSilk scarves assumed a focal point on the Spring/Summer runways, and this season they take the form of tops and belts. At Chanel Cruise 2027, silk scarves were used as belts, while elsewhere like at Hermes and Kallmeyer Spring/Summer 2026, they were fashioned into slinky tops for the hottest of days.
Roaring '20s
Giorgio Armani SS26; Chanel Cruise 2027; Tory Burch SS26; Valentino SS26 // LaunchmetricsThis summer, the silk slip is replaced by 1920s style shift dresses. Think: Jazz age, straight lines, heavy beading and below-the-knee hemlines. At Tory Burch, Lanvin, and Valentino Spring/Summer 2026 as well as Chanel Cruise 2026, shift dresses were the shape du jour for eveningwear.
Library Girls
Miu Miu SS26; Prada FW26; BOSS SS26; Tory Burch SS26 // LaunchmetricsLiterary-core has been around for some years now, and on the Spring/Summer 2026 runways, it was proven to not be going anywhere anytime soon. For the slightly more conservative dresser who is a fashion girl but also a corporate queen, look to the library aesthetic this season.
Retro Prints
Fendi SS26; Lanvin SS26; Louis Vuitton SS26; Chloé SS26 // LaunchmetricsThis season, prints are back and louder than ever. Or at least, as loud as they were in the '70s and '80s. At Chloé's Spring/Summer 2026 show, it was all about retro floral prints, while at Louis Vuitton, some very '80s graphics were taking place. Long live the loud print!
Balloon Saloon
Giorgio Armani SS26; Chloé FW26; Louis Vuitton SS26; Isabel Marant SS26 // LaunchmetricsA trend that we're spotting more and more in the wild now that the weather has truly heated up is the balloon pant: baggy, flowy trousers with nipped ankles. They are arguably the most favorable summer in the city pant, thanks to the guarantee they won't touch the streets without compromising on breeziness. On the Spring/Summer runways and beyond, we noticed them at Louis Vuitton, Chloé, and Isabel Marant.
