Stacked Belts Are The Accessories Trend Of The Season

Because two is better than one.

We're reaching the end of 2025, the Spring/Summer 2026 season's fashion month has concluded, maximal accessorizing is all the rage, and wearing two belts is better than wearing one. We have, collectively, embraced the concept of accessories just for the sake of them and Spring/Summer 2026 runways loved what fashion folks refer to as 'the useless belt', a belt that's not serving a functional purpose like, say, holding your pants up. Some runways even styled two belts, one on top of the other, just because they could. So, if you needed a sign to start stacking your belts, consider this it.

Fashion month runways and street style looks made a strong case for belt stacking this season, nodding to the age of playing with accessories: wearing more of something than we're "supposed" to and using things in way they weren't intended for. This is, arguably, how trends form.

At Miu Miu, one of the hottest brands in the world, is often at the helm of fashion trends and this case is no different. On Miuccia Prada's Fall/Winter 2022-2023 runway, double stacked belts were paired with micro mini skirts and shorts, midi skirts, and baggy leather pants, ushering the trend in as Mrs. Prada so frequently does. This season, everyone else followed suit.

On Rachel Comey's Spring/Summer 2026 runway, two belts in different shades of brown were paired with trousers: one through the belt loops, and one just sitting below. On Michael Kors' runway, two coordinated black belts cinched the waist of a black one shoulder dress and the ends were left loose and hanging. At Tom Ford, two skinny belts, one cream and one black, laid overtop a suede trench coat and at Isabel Marant a grommet belt and skinny belt are paired over a jumpsuit.

On the street style side of things, one show goer made a case for overlapping belts in a crisscross formation, while another accessorized her black dress with not one, not two, but three black belts, with one fully turned around hiding the buckle.

Today maximalism reigns and more is better, so why wear one belt when you can wear two or three or four? It's worth a try, at least. I guess it's time to start stocking up on belts.
