Sandy Liang is always pulling inspiration from the environment around her. Growing up in New York and partly in Chinatown, you can always spot a Sandy Liang collection, not only for her quintessential brand codes—bows, puffed sleeves, satin ballet flats—but for her subtle references to the city she lives, works, and grew up in.
For Spring/Summer 2026, Liang’s collection was an ode to nostalgia, to childhood, to the tangible, and, in moments, to the Chinatown grandmothers and fixtures of Canal Street from her past and present.

Yesterday in the Meatpacking district,this all came together downstairs at Buddakhan, which, in the main room, was centered around a giant, 10-foot cake made by Danny Bowien, a subtle nod to the sense of whimsy that Liang's collections capture so well. Sweet details were present throughout, as if to say, “This is who I was and this is who I am, and all of these trinkets signal the evolution of past and future.” They were seen in PVC skirts with panels of pockets to store treasures, like tiny shells. Clear slippers were covered in stickers, a dress adorned with tiny doll clothes.

Prints this season nodded to childhood, with bunnies and gingham and pastel tulips interspersed with pink stars. A surplus of lace in cream and ivory created window-like panes in dresses, peeked out from skirts in the form of cropped capri leggings, and were offered up as princess dressed with v-line skirts and puffed shoulders. Exposed and enlarged care labels played on this idea of doll clothes, from the tiny versions sewed onto the front of shift dresses to the real-life silhouettes models walked in.

Liang was reportedly inspired by the life of Hughette Clark, the New York heiress who was obsessed with dollhouses and childlike wonder, not dissimilar to Liang herself, who has created a universe of her own through the Sandy Liang brand.
