In a world where inspiration can be found at the tap of a finger, Emily Ward and Louisa Pierce are going analog mode by turning to books, film, travel, and nature for design inspiration. “We’re trying to go back to not looking solely at Pinterest because it’s really hard to get so caught up in trends,” Ward says. The result is over 200 heirloom-worthy pieces that could live anywhere from a tiny cottage to a sprawling mansion—or a walkup apartment with very limited closet space.
Driven by intuition, the designers were determined to push boundaries as they expanded their reach even further into the bedroom and bathroom this time around. From textiles, bedding, and bath to furniture, lighting, and window treatments, every item is a modern heirloom with a vintage feel. “You really can fill anyone’s home with this line and it’s not going to feel like it all came from one store,” Ward adds. “It’s a very classic feeling.”

While the designers don’t like to play favorites, they couldn’t deny the magnitude of their love for this tiny table lamp. To avoid making your space feel sterile or clinical, they strongly encourage mixing metals like brass and polished nickel.

I bet you’ve never seen burl wood like this before! While there are plenty of burl wood pieces to choose from in this line, this side table is truly one-of-a-kind with its color, composition, and cost. “Wait ‘till you feel the material, it looks like it should cost $1,200 easily,” Pierce notes.

The thrill of sourcing folk art in the wild feeds me as a collector, but these days I don’t have as much free time on my hands to do the digging. This tramp art mirror looks like something you might stumble upon in the back of a booth at Brimfield Antique Flea Market. “It’s hard to find a big enough mirror that you can actually see in so we were like, ‘This would be a great moment to introduce something,’” Ward says.

Pierce is head-over-heels in love with the bedding from this collection, especially the micro print sheets featuring floral motifs inspired by vintage fabrics that they’ve collected over the years. (Note that patterns like Berry Lattice also function really well as a neutral.) “It’s hard to find really small micro print sheets. If they’re bigger or if the pattern is too intense, we tend to shy away from that,” she says. “I feel like that’s a big part of why we shy away from cool tones. We’re very warm, so that’s something that instantly brings an older feel to a home.”

At this point, if you don’t own a luggage rack you’re just committing to a life of self-torture! “When you’re suddenly not bending over the suitcase it’s like, ‘This is nice!’ Every time my suitcase is on my bed, I'm like, ‘This is disgusting,’” Ward says.

The burl wood boom doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, but rest assured that it’s not a fad—this beautiful material stands the test of time. Appearing as a cross between burl and cork, this super matte bar cabinet is one of Ward’s personal favorites. “We love burl so much, and obviously it’s been so used lately, but we love this different take on it,” she adds.
