Natasha Sheridan Has Perfected Her New York City Packing List

Natasha Sheridan dares to answer the age-old question: New York or LA. While her home city of Los Angeles provides a more relaxed pace and easy access to the Melrose Trading Post, for Sheridan, NYC presents a gratifying challenge and limitless creative influence (an essential for Coveteur’s social creative lead). While Los Angeles offers a reliable home base, Sheridan returns to the East Coast twice a year to lose herself in the delicious chaos of New York. 

Those biannual visits have provided Sheridan with enough local favorites to populate a curated itinerary of her own. Plus, she's nailed down a dependable NYC packing list, filled with 100% cotton pieces to keep her comfortable throughout the trip. On her itinerary, Arthur's Tavern sits atop the list as her choice for live jazz and a delicious burger. “The vibes here are immaculate, and the location makes it so easy to bop around the West Village,” she says. And for a quick bite in between shows, Little Maven is her favorite spot for a power lunch (specifically, their Caesar cups). 

During her precious little time off—a rarity during a work trip to NYC—Sheridan heads straight for the Plaza’s 111skin Spa for a bit of well-earned rejuvenation. “My post-meeting facial is officially booked, and I’m already counting down the days,” she adds.

Ahead, Coveteur’s social media maven talks bicoastal benefits, fashion week style, and the cotton staples she packed for the journey. 

How does your style present differently in NYC versus LA?

I find the style in NYC and LA to be extremely different. People in NYC are much more experimental, and their everyday outfits feel a little more elevated. When I’m out in LA, I usually gravitate toward my classic uniform of jeans, a black tee, and a fun shoe. In New York, though, the world is my oyster. I find myself wanting to take more risks and wear something a little more daring because everyone really shows up.

What’s your secret to September dressing in NYC?

Looks that are versatile throughout the day because comfort is key. I’m out and about some days for over 14 hours, so I need something that can easily take me from day to night. I always find myself reaching for a cotton babydoll dress that I can easily dress up or down—breathable material and very easy to wear.

How does September style differ from your winter style? 

The only thing that differs is the weather. I have my eyes on a Toteme cotton trench coat that might just be in the mail as we speak.

Vintage or runway?

Vintage! On a huge vintage kick and could spend hours browsing The RealReal.

Cotton or synthetic fabrics? 

100% cotton. The most versatile, livable, and effortlessly comfortable fabric out there.

Subway or driving? 

Driving! There's nothing better than listening to a podcast on a road trip.

Central Park or Griffith Park?

Central Park—you really can’t beat it.
