All The Spots To Visit In Montauk This Summer

A Hamptons summer never hurt anybody.

All The Spots To Visit In Montauk This Summer

Summer isn't over yet, despite what some overly-eager, fall-loving people might be saying. While, yes, we are reaching the end of August and in-turn peak season, Labor day weekend hasn't even passed us by yet, and September is plenty warm for a last-minute getaway out of the city.

This summer, the Coveteur editors took every opportunity to escape our everyday routines and the city's hustle and bustle: some went to Europe, others Alaska, and almost all of us ended up in Montauk at some point or another. Located just 2.5 hours out of New York, we can all attest to the popular seaside haunt being the perfect weekend getaway to kiss summer goodbye

We ate, drank, and perused our ways through the town, and are now happy (and informed enough) to bring you our favorite recommendations for your perfect Montauk getaway.

Where To Stay

Surf Lodge

"Surf Lodge remains the spot to see and be seen in the Hamptons, and for good reason. Founder and creative director Jayma Cardoso is a fashionable force who has transformed the small lake-front hotel into the hottest destination in Montauk, where Diplo casually plays on a Saturday afternoon and the gift shop is stocked with Pucci. Yes, it lives up to the hype (if you can get in!). Also, don't overlook the rooms--they're sunlit and airy, with beautiful views of the lake." - Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Montauk Yacht Club

"Montauk Yacht Club really provides that Hamptons weekend feel that is kind of enchanting. With a mix of freestanding cottages and rooms, privacy and quiet feel accessible here. The property feels like a true East Coast summers dream." - Ella O'Keeffe, Senior Fashion Editor

Where To Eat & Drink

Gigi's at Gurneys

"You won't get a better sunset dinner view in the Hamptons than Gigi's. Book your dinner around 7:30 pm to time it with the sunset, place your order (I recommend the lobster pasta and shrimp scampi), walk down the deck for a quick stroll on the beach to dip your toes in the ocean, then walk back to your table as your food and drinks arrive. You're welcome!" – Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Joni's

"The classic casual eatery is everyone's favorite spot for a quick bite for good reason: the sandwiches and wraps are genuinely delicious. I'm a peach smoothie and tofu spring roll girl, but the chicken wrap and fish tacos get honorable mentions." – Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Crow's Nest

"Another Montauk institution! Show up an hour or two before you actually want to eat, because they don't take reservations--which is fine, because you'll put your name down, wander down the hill to the waterfront, and order a drink there while watching the sun set." – Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Duryea's

"Sitting on the dock at Duryea's, crunching on the $97 lobster salad and crisp fries, watching the sun glisten off the waves, is the closest you'll get to a European summer in the Hamptons." – Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

The Galley at Montauk Yacht Club

"I’m still thinking about this lobster roll I got at Montauk Yacht Club a few weeks ago... The Galley food truck is located on the property and is the ultimate spot for a relaxed lunch or a quick bite between swims. I went for the lobster roll (obviously), and my friend tried the fish sandwich (which she said was amazing). They also have smash burgers and crispy fried chicken, so there’s something for everyone." – Kala Herh, Social Strategy Lead

"There is nothing I love more than a warm afternoon at the bar with a little snack and a gin-based cocktail. You can always go with a classic gin and tonic, but Montauk Yacht Club has currently got a Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon cocktail on their menu which feels like the perfect way to unwind after a long day of eating seafood and relaxing. The Sparkling Lemon is a simple mix of Bombay Sapphire gin, fresh lemonade, and soda over ice." – Ella O'Keeffe, Senior Fashion Editor

Mary Lou's

"Mary Lou’s is one of those spots you stumble upon and instantly wish you’d found sooner. Think casual, beachy vibes with food that hits just right. If you’re visiting Montauk this season, this place is not to be missed." – Kala Herh, Social Strategy Lead

Clam Bar

"A kitschy and casual lunchtime favorite if you don't want to mess around with reservations and want to really capitalize on the New England summer feeling. Basic but great." – Ella O'Keeffe, Senior Fashion Editor

The Ranch

"I’d recommend The Ranch for art. The indoor-outdoor exhibition space in Montauk sits on 26 acres where grazing horses and donkeys reside amongst the artworks, and where owner Max Levai, the former president of Marlborough Gallery, hosts exhibitions featuring the works of artists that Levai represents." – Sophia Penske, Contributing Editor
