Mia Goth is Dior's Newest Ambassador & A Shake Up At Oscar De La Renta

A quick debrief from NYFW, which was a little confusing to witness this year. Not necessarily regarding collections—plenty of designers stayed exactly true to what has currently been working for them, which makes sense in the midst of the luxury slowdown. The general attitude of attendees and onlookers was a little flat. I heard more people complain about their seat assignments more than anything they had to say about the collections we were all there to support, which felt depressing. Overall, things felt a bit slap-dash all round, and critics are right to say that what might help is the CFDA getting some heavyweight designers like Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, and Oscar De La Renta are back on the schedule to bring the excitement back up and do away with the evident apathy that hung in the air this season.

Speaking of Oscar De La Renta, it’s been announced that the brand’s co-creative directors since 2016, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, will be exiting the brand to focus solely on their ready-to-wear label, Monse. As part of their exit transition, the duo will reportedly be granted a seat on the company’s board of directors. Their last collection as a duo for the house will be Fall/Winter 2026, which will debut next February. A successor has not yet been announced.

Prada

“Bugonia” director Yorgos Lanthimos has been tapped by Prada for a new short film for the brand’s Prada Galleria bag campaign. Titled Ritual Identities, the renowned filmmaker teamed up with Scarlett Johansson to create a witchy, sci-fi short film wherein Johansson collects the ingredients to clone herself. After watching “Bugonia” at Deauville Film Festival earlier this month, the brand’s choice to work with Lanthimos (for the first time) feels very of the moment, as every choice that Mrs. Prada makes, is.

When Jonathan Anderson’s creative director role at Dior was announced, it was also revealed that he would be scaling back the ready-to-wear offering at JW Anderson for the foreseeable future, exploring objects and homewares as part of the reshuffle. Now, it appears that he’s come good on his promise as he opens a new store in Soho, London, which is set to stock a selection of Anderson's "obsessions," alongside handmade furniture, fashion, homewares, and pieces from his debut collaboration with Wedgwood. With all eyes on Dior ahead of his September debut, it makes sense for the designer to scale back where necessary to avoid burnout.
