There’s nothing quite like the energy that the pre-Met Gala buzz generates in New York City. From clocking the famous tent going up outside the steps to stumbling past your favorite celebrity as they get papped on their way to a pre-Met party, the city comes alive on the first of May— and over the weekend, the celebrities turned out the looks.
Kendall Jenner stepped out for ice cream in Loewe, while Doechii dominated in a host of Louis Vuitton looks (pointing to a potential collaboration hint for her Met Gala look?).
This year’s exhibition theme is titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s novel Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The dress code for the actual fundraiser, however, is slightly more broad: "Tailored For You.” And if anyone loves a theme, it's Tyla, who stepped out in a vintage Roberto Cavalli two-piece suit, and Anne Hathaway, who was photographed in a Versace suit (which she's worn to previous Met Galas past). Laura Harrier and Sabrina Carpenter also stepped out in Versace, both in pastel iterations of the brand’s signature silhouette.
Below, see all of the best celebrity street style as they prepare for fashion’s biggest night.
