The Met Gala’s Best-Dressed Celebs Share This Subtle Detail
There’s a pattern among our picks for best-dressed and no, it’s not groundbreaking florals.

It’s a rare Met Gala when the best dressed attendees share succinct visual notes, but this first Monday in May is a rarity. Despite wearing a range of designers from Thom Browne to Marc Jacobs and a stunning array of ‘fits from three—or more!—piece suits to structured floor-sweeping gowns, the best dressed celebrities at the 2025 Met Gala have been styled with a singular pattern in common: pinstripes.
The subtle printed pattern has been prominently featured for good reason. Pinstriped suits were a fashion focal point during the Harlem Renaissance when Black men, looking to sartorially assert themselves, embraced the stripes worn by bankers and businessmen. The legacy of the pinstripe is a refusal to be seen as less than, a declaration of self-worth, and a visual commitment to exceptional swag. Tonight, the spirit of the Harlem Renaissance was felt in exaggerated silhouettes—a refusal, if you will, to be made small and a conscious choice to take up space—and deliberate displays of opulence and luxury.

The musical married duo opted for pinstripe ensembles that were in conversation without overtly matching. The pinstripe pattern on Keys' oversized coat matched her husband's double-breasted suit, while Beatz' durag was perfectly matched to the dominant—and very trendy—shade of merlot featured on Keys' off-the-shoulder suit.
Pusha T
The structure of Pusha T's immaculate oxblood Louis Vuitton pinstripe suit harkened back to the oversized silhouettes popular in the 1920s. His suit wasn't just accessorized with Tiffany & Co. Jewelry, it was literally dripping with light-catching stones.
Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor's pinstriped Marc Jacobs ensemble was a celebration of Black joy from head to toe and featured a number of beautifully accessorized homages to Black culture, from her durag to her cane.

Zoe Saldaña's Thom Browne gown featured a pleated bodice that suggested, rather than screamed, "pinstripe," as well as white-on-cream pinstriping that channeled both the spirit and structure of a pinstripe suit.
