Met Beauty Moments, Edward Enninful's 72 Magazine, The Weekly Column Is Back
Senior fashion editor, Ella O’Keeffe, catches us up on all things fashion news.

Welcome back to our weekly column where our senior fashion editor, Ella O’Keeffe, catches us up on all things fashion news.
Another week down and naturally all that most of us are still thinking about is the Met Gala, which took place on Monday this week. Highlights included Rihanna’s custom Marc Jacobs gown which featured his expert tailoring and proportions, Doechii’s LV face stamp, and Clairo’s little cat bag, or whatever it was. It’s my opinion that this was one of the better theme executions of recent years. Some complained it was boring, I felt soothed at how few misses there were. I think we are so used to spectacle, the theme of tailoring may have fallen flat for some since it is a practice rooted in precision and sophistication. Remember when Kate Moss wore a butter yellow Calvin Klein slip, and Princess Diana wore a custom nightgown by John Galliano for Dior? Some of the most iconic Met moments in history have been famed for their subtlety. It was refreshing to see true homages to the theme, especially amongst the male attendees.
Post Met, a few things that have emerged in fashion this week, below.

Announced yesterday, former British Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, will launch 72 Magazine, a print and digital publication powered by the EE72 platform, which Enninful and his sister, Akua founded earlier this year. Published by EE72, the publication will be headed up by British Vogue’s Sarah Harris, who joins as Editorial Director. The creative direction for the magazine will be led by duo Lee Swillingham and Stuart Spalding at Suburbia. Any new emergence into the print market personally feels like something to celebrate, especially when led by Enninful’s exacting vision. The first issue is slated to debut in September. Under Enninful and Harris’ guidance, it feels probable that 72 Magazine will be a key player in the luxury print and digital space very swiftly.
2. Calvin Klein president Eva Serrano to exit

Calvin Klein’s parent group PVH announced president Eva Serrano’s exit on Thursday. She will be succeeded by David Savman, PVH’s global head of operations and chief supply chain officer. Under Serrano’s direction, Calvin Klein hired its first creative director since 2018, Veronica Leoni, who debuted her first runway show for the brand at New York Fashion Week in February. It was the first time in six years that the iconic American label returned to the runway and fashion week schedule, and despite mixed reviews, felt like a return to the way things should be at Calvin Klein. “David is a people-focused leader with a proven ability to elevate brands, execute with a robust operating engine and deliver PVH+ Plan performance, all of which will be critical as we take Calvin Klein into this next chapter,” PVH CEO Stefan Larsson in a statement. A brand revival is desperately needed for Calvin Klein, so perhaps this will be a necessary shift in the right direction.
3. Met Gala beauty moments

While we’re on the topic of the Met Gala, the beauty moments were some that felt so well executed this year, beyond Doechii’s previously mentioned LV face stamp. Ayo Edebiri came with a side-swept micro fringe, Janelle Monáe had a Monocle. Sha’Carri Richardson came with tumbling, waist-length hair adorned with bows throughout the strands, Pharrell turned his invisalign into gold grillz. Whitney Peak wore a dark, ‘20s style lip complete with a cigarette, and Doja Cat’s thread-thin brows and satiny red ‘80s lip felt perfectly in sync with her look. If the Met this year was a celebration of Black style, the beauty looks deserve their flowers too.
