If you arrive early, you’ll set the hostess’s mind at ease and you can also offer to help with any last minute party needs."

"Bring a little doo-dad or treat for the host. It shouldn’t be fancy or flashy, but something the host likes or will feel excited about. When I visit palaces I bring the fanciest scented candles I can, because when you have 85 bathrooms you always need a few scented candles!"

"Make the party fun. People are spoiled and want the work to be done for them but things are only fun if the guests MAKE them fun. Ask yourself: 'what would Derek Blasberg do' and you’ll be all set."

"Send a note or at least an e-mail the next day saying what a great time you had and thanking the host for including you.
