What does it take to create an it girl brand? For Paris-based label Du Ciel's founder, Marina Sinkovskiy, being an it girl in your own right certainly helps. One look at Sinkovskiy's personal Instagram page and it's obvious that she gets it. The Kazakhstan-born designer of a viral, ultra-low back swimsuit understands that there is sensuality to be accessed via silhouettes and fabrications that do not always make sense in our heads, but look perfect on a girl lazing on the beach or getting ready for a night out.
In 2019, Sinkovskiy founded her swimwear and lingerie label with the intention to deepen the relationship between the wearer and their body, dreaming up pieces that feel like perhaps you've waited all your life to see, like the desire bra, created to almost look like stocking material. That knack extends to Sinkovskiy's ethos in her personal style too: easy, effortless, and slightly off-beat yet still super sexy. We've been following her for this exact reason, watching from the sidelines as Du Ciel evolves, for a while now, and want you to do the same.
Ahead, we caught up with Sinkovskiy on what she's keeping tabs on this month.
