After months of speculation, Dior confirmed early this morning that Jonathan Anderson will become the new creative director of women’s, men’s, and haute couture collections of the house, succeeding Maria Grazia Chiuri, and expanding his current role as artistic director of menswear, which was announced earlier this year.

Delphine Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Christian Dior Couture, stated in a press release: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan Anderson to lead the women’s and men’s creations of the House. I have followed his career with great interest since he joined the LVMH group over ten years ago. I am convinced that he will bring a creative and modern vision to our House, inspired by the fabulous story of Monsieur Dior and the codes he created." Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, echoed her sentiments, calling Anderson "one of the greatest talents of his generation" and a "crucial asset in writing the next chapter" of Dior.

Anderson launched his namesake brand, JW Anderson, in 2008, and was tapped for Loewe in 2013, where he led the visual language of the Spanish house for over a decade, infusing the brand with his signature take on surrealism and placing it at the center of cultural discourse. Now, at Dior with full creative input across all of the brand’s categories, Anderson will work across 10 collections, while continuing to produce six collections per year for JW Anderson, as well as two collections in collaboration with Uniqlo—meaning he will be in charge of leading a total of 18 collections a year.

This volume of collections is no small undertaking, and one that slates Anderson to become the most multi-tasking designer since Karl Lagerfeld, who designed around 15 collections per year for Chanel, in addition to his post at Fendi and his eponymous label. Similarly, when John Galliano was creative director of Dior from 1997-2011, the British designer produced 30 collections per year between Dior and his namesake label before he famously spiraled out of control trying to manage the stress with substance and alcohol abuse.

The women's ready-to-wear shows in Paris and Milan this Fall are shaping up to emulate an Olympic games of of sorts of designer debuts. Across multiple luxury fashion houses, we'll see the first collections from Pierpaolo Piccioli at Balenciaga, Demna at Gucci, Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Loewe, and more, setting us up for an exciting Spring/Summer 2026 season ahead.

Anderson’s debut collection for Dior will be Dior Men Summer 2026, presented in Paris on June 27th, 2025. He will show his first womenswear collection later this year in Paris in October.
