Lessons From Cannes: How to Master the Art of Day Dressing
From sourcing vintage finds to trusting your capsule collection.

Outside of the screenings and away from the red carpet at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, attendees make their way to and from the various events, previews, and panels throughout the week. As such, they slink out of their couture gowns and step into attire far more casual and relaxed—albeit still Cannes-coded.
Whether it’s outside of Hotel Martinez or en route to luncheons, press events and parties, actors and models have mastered the art of day dressing in Cannes, marrying elevated pieces with casual basics that look effortless. Vintage finds are certainly not to shy away from, either, as Ariana Greenblat demonstrated when she stepped out in an archival Chanel ensemble complete with a beret, tweed corset and capris, the perfect homage to French culture. Elsewhere, Irina Shayk stepped out in three diverse looks throughout the week, wearing multiple contrasting looks: one that emulated a feminine silhouette with a twist, and the other a casual take on the capsule wardrobe.
