Last week in New York was unbearably hot. This week in New York is slated to also be unbearably hot. As celebrities stepped out to bear the blistering heat, many of them did so in rather sophisticated little outfits!
Over the weekend, stars rung in the first few official days of summer with decidedly seasonal looks, all of them with an air of elegance about them. There were column dresses, cotton poplin shirts, and matching skirt-suit ensembles.
Hailey Bieber stepped out in an emerald green satin strapless mini dress, which followed up a '60s moment earlier that afternoon, when she wore polka dot capri pants, a black boatneck top, and flip-flop kitten heels.
Elsewhere in the column dress department, Priyanka Chopra emerged on Thursday wearing a black strapless Gucci corset column midi dress, accessorizing with a Bulgari diamond necklace and classic black pumps.
There was no shortage of casual outfit inspiration, either, with Miley Cyrus landing in London wearing a moss colored trench and relaxed blue jeans, and Charlize Theron who today stepped out in tailored black slacks and a breezy pink cotton poplin button down shirt, polishing the look off with strappy sandals and her sleek lob.
This theme of maximum sophistication comes after a wave of overwhelming micro trends permeating the trend cycle, and a moment in time where many celebrities are on the campaign trail to rebrand stylistically towards a more fashion-forward visual identity. Take, Miley Cyrus, for example, who has pivoted her style, with the help of Bradley Kenneth, to make headlines in line with her upcoming album release.
The strategy is no new phenomenon. Celebrities have been reinventing themselves and their wardrobes for decades in order to create buzz around upcoming projects, but the theme this season seems to be grounded in a sense of refinement, proving that at the moment, the way to get people the most excited, is through some really good silhouettes.
