24 Hours At NYFW With Our Social Creative Lead

With Fashion Month well underway and NYFW officially checked off the list, I can finally digest—and debrief—what actually happened. A fashion editor’s day rarely goes according to plan. Mornings start earlier than they should, coffee becomes a food group, and the distance between a downtown appointment and a Midtown show somehow feels twice as long when you’re already running late. There are interviews to make, shows to catch, street style to scout, emails to answer, and, if there’s a spare minute, the occasional attempt to actually enjoy the hotel you’re staying in.

But beneath the polished outfits and front-row seats is a carefully orchestrated game of timing, taxis, outfit changes, and sheer stamina. So, what does a typical day actually look like when your office is the entire city? From the first coffee of the morning to the final event of the night, here’s a look inside Coveteur’s Social Creative Lead, Natasha Sheridan’s day during the most hectic—and exhilarating—week on the New York calendar.

Location, location, location. Being from LA, where I stay is vital when going from event to event in New York, which is why Merchant LES was the perfect home base. Right in the heart of the Lower East Side, it was the perfect place to start the day and, more importantly, somewhere I could actually walk to things from. My room had an insane view of the city and doubled as the perfect WFH situation when I needed to squeeze in a few emails (or, let’s be honest, a quick outfit change).

Lucky for me, coffee was only a few steps away from my hotel room, waiting for me in the lobby. Every morning at The Merchant LES started the same way: a cappuccino and a prayer. I’d grab my coffee, take a few minutes to mentally prepare for the day ahead while people-watching out the big window, and then head out into the chaos of Fashion Week.

I had the honor of meeting and trying on pieces from the SS27 collections from Christian Cowan, Christian Siriano, and Alina Liu. I spent the morning with Christian Cowan trying on this gorgeous dress made from silk he found on the side of the street in NYC—which feels like the most New York origin story possible for a fashion moment.

Next, I raced across town to catch Christian Siriano’s show, which was nothing short of magical. Sitting across from JoJo and Brandy was just the cherry on top. After chatting with Christian about the inspiration behind the collection and then seeing the magic of it come to life on the runway, the entire experience shifted. There’s something about hearing the story behind a collection and then watching it unfold in front of you that makes the clothes feel completely different.

I had a few hours before I had to leave for my final party of the night, so I decided to check out the restaurant at the hotel I was staying in and edit some content while I ate. This ended up being the biggest surprise of all of Fashion Week. The restaurant is such a hidden gem, and the fact that it was on the bottom floor of my hotel meant I ate there three nights in a row—with my only complaint being that I couldn’t make it a fourth. Isla & Co. is Australian-inspired dining with the best people-watching window in the restaurant. They even had a deal one night: steak, fries, and a Diet Coke for $25. Talk about girl dinner heaven.

There’s no better way to end a hectic NYFW day than with a party—especially a Marc Jacobs Beauty party where Marc himself graced us with his presence. With a speakeasy in the basement and makeup to touch up all around you, I grabbed an extra-dirty martini and met up with my coworkers as we kiki’d about our respective crazy days. And just like that, another NYFW day was officially in the books.
