OVO Fest. Toronto.

Drake ft. Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg & Crew

For all those Keeping Up with The Coveteur (particularly on Instagram), you’d know we found ourselves backstage at the 3rd annual OVO Fest. (FYI: OVO Fest is headlined by Grammy-nominated rapper Drake and always includes a slew of stellar big-name surprises. The first year, Jay-Z and Eminem stopped by, and last year, Stevie Wonder. Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.) We arrived early for the sound check and hung out with Drake’s entourage on stage while he rehearsed. It’s true that Drake is the “first name ‘Ever,’ last name ‘Greatest.'" We were stoked to see A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz and The Weeknd (another homegrown talent!), but we knew Drake had a few tricks up his sleeve and were determined to find ‘em. With our all-access passes around our necks, we peeped around, running into a few of our favorites from October’s Very Own. Before the stadium flooded with fans, we perused around the dressing rooms of Snoop Dogg, (sorry, Snoop Lion. We’re still getting used to it!) Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Waka Flocka Flame, French Montana and Meek Mill. It’s safe to say we’re definitely "loving the crew." We grabbed a quick bite (the catering was a royal feast) then dashed to our spots in the front row for the show. If you listen to Drake, you know he’s got no shortage of love for his hometown, Toronto, but he made it official in ink debuting his fresh “416” area code tat across his ribs during the show. Drake, we’re so, we’re so, we’re so proud of you. We got to hand it to Snoop, though, who took us back with “The Next Episode” and paid tribute to T.O. in his monogrammed Canadian tuxedo. The show was completely off the chain; actually, make that 2 Chainz. We headed back for a congratulatory catch-up with Drizzy. He may be “too strung out on compliments,” (his words, not ours!) but we swear he’s the kindest and coolest guy ever. In the words of our boy Drake: YOLO.
