There are fashion shows and then there are Glenn Martens fashion shows, a notion not lost on model Meredith Duxbury. This Fall 2024 season, she was cast to walk the aforementioned creative director’s Diesel fashion show—a highly coveted ticket. No surprises here, the glam, the movement direction, and the set were as riveting as the designs themselves. Luckily, Duxbury cataloged every minute of it for us, from the t-shirt she was given for hair and makeup, to the runway rehearsal, to the final catwalk.
7:30 AM: Call time! Straight into hair and makeup, such a fun and creative process to sit through, and we all know how much I love to glam.
8:30 AM: Makeup finished! My look was very natural—focused on glassy, glowy skin. I actually loved this for me, contrary to my full glam reputation. Your girl is in her natural girl era.
8:45 AM: Time for hair! This was super fun to watch because blonde tape-in extensions were added into my red hair. It was very different and very Diesel. At this point, I could start to feel the look really come together!
9:30 AM: After hair & makeup, I headed over to the board with all the looks on it. It was so fun to see the rest of the collection and what models were wearing what. Glenn and the entire Diesel team are such creative geniuses. The whole day I was in awe.
9:45 AM: I was brought down to dressing. This is where the other half of the magic happens! I have to mention the whole production was VERY organized and professional, but I would expect nothing less from Diesel.
10 AM: This is home base. This is where you sit until rehearsals start. I love the stations that were set up for each model. We were each given a white tee that has the little Diesel logo on it for rehearsals—so cool.
10:30 AM: Rehearsals begin! This is me in line to practice the runway. We each went in groups of about 10. This runway was star shaped. I tried to make a mental map of it so I didn’t go the wrong way…. lol.
11:15 AM: Time to get dressed. The nerves are kicking in! I’m obsessed with these shoes. They remind me of the mob wife era with the cheetah print.
11:45 AM: She’s ready to strut! I love this outfit. The mini dress is mini-ing… is that even a word lol??
12 PM: Chaos begins!!! Not really, as everything was very well organized, but I guess the chaos in my mind began since I was now in line to walk!
12:30 PM: SHOW TIME!!!!! What an incredible experience and opportunity, such a pinch-me moment. I want to thank everyone involved, especially Glenn for trusting me with your vision.
