From Sheer To Suede And Leather, Dakota Johnson’s Press Tour Style For ‘Materialists’ Has It All
And keeps it grounded with black as a base shade.

If there’s one thing we can’t stop talking about at the Coveteur office, it’s that the Rom-Com is back, thanks to Materialists, which is officially hitting theater screens on June 13. The movie, which stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and everyone’s favorite internet boyfriend Pedro Pascal, follows the complicated love life of a notable New York City matchmaker. On and off the screen, Johnson’s allure is palpable, especially when it comes to her wardrobe.
In recent weeks, as Johnson’s been making the press tour rounds ahead of next week’s premiere, we can’t help but notice how Johnson’s style takes a similar elevated and sophisticated approach to her character Lucy’s on-the-clock ‘fits. For her recent press tour and talk show appearances, Johnson has stepped out in New York City wearing chic and tailored pieces that show off her long legs, slim silhouette, and décolletage. From Ferragamo to Khaite, Johnson and stylist Kate Young have leaned into elevated basics, demonstrating how adding something leather, suede or sheer can take it to the next level.
In Materialists, Johnson, who plays Lucy, is seen to be wearing a very sophisticated and sleek wardrobe, stepping out in a cerulean blue strapless dress from Proenza Schouler for a formal event. When she’s not dressing up, her character leans into the classic Manhattan style with mini skirt, an oversize blazer and high-knee boots, large Hereu tote in tow. Occasionally, Lucy will wear florals, often from Dôen, to mix up her minimalist ensemble.
Ahead, we break down her best press looks in recent weeks.

Yesterday, the Materialists star stepped out in Tribeca embracing the sheer trend with full gusto wearing a black Nensi Dojaka sheer dress featuring a crisscross halter neckline and flared tulle skirt. She paired it over a brown, strapless bodysuit and Gucci Jackie purse.
