10 Things We Consumed This Week: From Korean Ceviche to Active Collagen Cleansing Balms
After the marathon of NYFW, we’re finding ourselves drawn to cheeky and refreshing content.

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. Each week, we are asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week, and connecting the dots on our consumer behavior with a trendspotting Venn diagram.
How was New York Fashion Week? In the words of Lady Gaga: “I was in leather every night! Bus, club, another club, plane, next place, no sleep, no fear, nobody believed in me.” Between late nights at the US Open, the VMAs, countless Fashion Week parties, dinners, pop-ups, and runways, the Coveteur staff is exhausted. When you’re a burnt-out husk of a person, sometimes the only way to recharge is through a little impulse beauty shopping, YouTube videos, and mind-numbing podcasts. Here’s what the Coveteur staff consumed this week:
1. "Shop Rat" Emilia Petrarca's New Newsletter
“Freelance writer (formerly of The Cut) launched a newsletter called Shop Rat about what people are *actually* wearing. I’m already loving her detailed reports on the madness that is NYFW.” — Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)
2. Take31
“Between their signature cocktails and seasonal menus, Take31 is the place to go for good food and vibes. The Korean gastropub situated itself a little further from NYC's bustling K-town, which I personally prefer for a bit more intimacy. My night became ten times better after the Korean Ceviche (a seasonal item) and Pork Belly Rice Crepes were served. The ceviche was super fresh and complimented by a cold, spicy broth. The rice crepes were soft and flavorful, and the dusting or roasted soybean powder was a nice added touch. Fully recommend getting a reservation, as this place is always popular!” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)
3. The Bald and The Beautiful Podcast w/ Trixie & Katya
“If you are a fan of Drag Race and UNHhhh (or even just an ally of the bald, beautiful, or LGBTQIA+ communities), this podcast is for you. Hosted by Drag Race alums and best friends Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, each episode is an unhinged dialogue about beauty, pop culture, makeup, sex, love, dating, sweating, balding, and SO much more. I like to throw it on when I’m driving and each episode has me cackling in my Impreza.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)
4. Revision Skincare’s C+ Brightening Eye Complex
“My two-year-old loves to wake up at 5:45 a.m. Enter: Revision Skincare's NEW C+ Brightening Eye Complex. This is my new go-to hack for de-puffing my eyes. With 10% THD Ascorbate, potent antioxidants, peptides, and a prebiotic, my eye bags are officially uninvited to attend my morning selfie photoshoots. The applicator is cool and soothing, as well. Double win.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)
5. Mini Brands
“My friend purchased a few of these ‘Mini Brands’ mystery balls and I was kind of confused as to why she was so excited about these kid’s toys from Target. We opened one and split up the small packages inside. Each package contained a tiny replica of a name-brand food—Hard Rock Cafe cocktail, Sonic soda, TGI Friday’s burger, etc. Quite unexpectedly, we all found ourselves shrieking with excitement and fighting over who got to keep which one. Is the wastefulness and unabashed branded consumerism problematic? Of course. But hey, who doesn’t love a miniature? With the sudden uptick in ‘inner child consumerism,’ we’re totally addicted to these collectible toys.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)
6. Gabriela Hearst Spring/Summer 2024
“From the tousled hair to the mesh workwear, I just fell in love with fashion week all over again. I felt like I was sitting in the front row through the POV of @ekammeyer. Gabriela Hearst just made a case for me to overhaul my entire closet next spring.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales
7. Amelia Dimoldenberg (a.k.a. Chicken Shop Date Girl)
“Chicken Shop Date Girl rules the world. Amelia Dimz (@ameliadimz), aka ‘The Chicken Shop Date Girl’, took the world by storm in creating the antithesis to Hot One's meticulous interview style. Through her deadpan humor, she has created content that is just the right amount of uncomfortable, and the media world has taken notice. From the Barbie Pink Carpet to the VMAs, she has become the top choice for all things social and mainstream media. For those who are new to the Chicken Shop, her interview with Lewis Capaldi is a good start.” — Paige Kowal (Associate Account Manager)
8. Face Gym Wonder Cleansing Balm
“A quick shift in climate or a getaway vacation typically strips my skin of moisture and bounce. So, I love to welcome fall–and holiday travels–with a cleansing balm. I just tried this new one from Face Gym that is formulated with vegan collagen and biotech Ylang Ylang stem cells. I love the scent and spa-like experience that it evokes.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales
9. Genius Hat
“A friend of mine and his sister are both incredibly talented illustrators and animators. For fun, they collaborate on designs for T-shirts, tote bags, and hats, mostly as an archive of inside jokes between the two of them. I ordered their ‘Genius?’ recently and I’ve been wearing it non-stop since it arrived in the mail. Highly recommend this hat in black, pink, or camo.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)
10. Prabal Gurung's Spring RTW Show
“Battled the rain this week with one of my co-workers (shout out to Sarah), and lived out my childhood dream of attending a runway show. Presenting his Spring RTW collection on Roosevelt Island at Four Freedoms State Park, Gurung’s collection was beautifully designed with stunning separates and bold accessories. Of course, my fave look was the first all-white monochromatic wrapped, one-shoulder sweetheart top with pleated white tapered pants and a white oversized jacket–I would gladly take all of them if I could. The collection was right up my ally as it effortlessly combined larger bottom silhouettes with tighter, corset-like tops.” — Samantha Wu (Marketing Coordinator)
