10 Things We Consumed This Week: From Loops Face Masks to Saltburn

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. In each Consumer Diary, we are taking the cultural temperature and asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week.

My favorite thing about this time of year is knowing that all top-tier movies vying for Awards Season always come out in November and December. We are absolutely spoiled with new releases from Taylor and Beyoncé’s tour films, Saltburn, Dream Scenario, May December, and who else is excited to see Poor Things on its opening weekend? As the temperatures drop, we’re hunkering down with some seasonal self-care staples and filling the dark hours between 4 p.m. sunsets and bedtime with some good ol’ vintage hunting online. Ahead, find out what the Coveteur team consumed in the first full week of December:

1. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé

“The second the credits rolled (to the queen's new single 'My House' no less), I immediately wanted to see it again. The editing, the artistry, the storytelling, the honesty—Renaissance is a modern masterpiece and, if we're being honest, a masterclass on how to be a f*cking icon. Go see it immediately.” — Emily Greene (Marketing Strategy Director)

2. Loops Weekly Reset Rejuvenating Face Mask

“I love testing out new skincare products so I was beyond excited to try out Loops hydrogel face mask. I've only ever used a peel/wash-off mask, so I was skeptical about this one. After following the directions and waiting for 10 minutes, my skin felt super hydrated, like I had just had a facial. The second I took it off, my skin looked dewy, and I could feel the effects right away.” –Samantha Wu (Marketing Coordinator)

3. Saltburn

“It was a big movie weekend for me—what else are we New Yorkers supposed to do when it rains for the 40th weekend in a row (dramatic, but not really). Similar to how many felt about the trailer, I still can't really describe what this movie was about in a way that would convey how great it actually was. Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and Barry Keoghan give incredible performances, the early-2000s indie pop soundtrack is perfectly nostalgic in all the right ways, the cinematography is stunning, the attention to detail is next level, and the storyline goes in a shocking direction you'd never see coming. It's majorly underrated and definitely poised to be the next cult favorite (at least among us gays).” — Emily Greene (Marketing Strategy Director)

“Where to begin? Emerald Fennell's Saltburn was not at all what I thought it would be. The buzz had me anticipating the bizarre, but the reality was less weird (relatively) than expected. The story follows nerdy scholarship student, Oliver (Barry Keoghan), at Oxford as he befriends the popular Felix (Jacob Elordi). As the friendship blossoms, he agrees to spend the summer at Felix's estate, where madness ensues. I wouldn't call it profound but the campy story is highly entertaining. Not to be missed: Rosamund Pike's performance as Felix's mother and a rather unforgettable final *nude* dance number by Keoghan.” –Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

4. Antique Victorian/Edwardian Crystal & Quartz Bumble Bee Brooch

“This seller on Etsy has some really unique antique brooches, which I love. Mostly the ones with big stones.” –Greg Brossia (Chief Digital Officer)

5. Veuve Clicquot Ice Jacket

“From the brand's limited edition ICONS collection, the Veuve Clicquot Ice Jacket was recently revamped with a new fashion-inspired eco-design made from 100% recycled plastic. The Ice Jacket can keep a bottle cold for up to 60 minutes, making it a must-have for partygoers looking to avoid the ‘I'm so sorry, but do you have room in your fridge…’ conversation this season.” –Caroline Dunn (Manager of Sales & Brand Partnerships)

6. Vintage Army Surplus Peacoat

“I've been having a peacoat moment, hunting for simple, modern-looking versions of the early aughts staple. I finally purchased an army surplus peacoat from Etsy, and I'm quite pleased with the uniform-like silhouette—bonus points for the anchor-embossed buttons.” –Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

7. LilybyRed, Mood Liar Lip Tint in No.10

“I never was the girl to reach for a deep, dark red lip, but this lip tint changed the game. Not only does it not budge, but there are a number of ways to wear it, and it's the perfect holiday color. Either a full swipe on the lips or, my personal favorite, a couple of dabs for a more sheer effect and top with your favorite lip balm or gloss! When the tint starts to fade, you'll notice the most perfect stain on your lips!” –Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

8. May December

“Loosely based on the tabloid story of Mary Kay Letourneau and Villi Fualaau, the story takes place twenty years after the scandal as a Hollywood actress spends time with the family while researching for an upcoming film. The direction and screenplay deftly toe the line between drama and camp with unexpected laugh-out-loud moments and an over-the-top piano score. Julianne Moore gives a tour-de-force performance (as she always does), and Natalie Portman is perfectly cast as a pretentious and snoopy B-actress. Even though the film is on Netflix, I highly recommend you see it in theaters for the full effect.” –Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)

9. Uniqlo Chunky Scarf

“This scarf is the one essential of my winter wardrobe. I'm fully in love with the royal blue, but I might just have to go back to pick up the red, and maybe the green one, too.” –Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

10. Alo High-Waist Airlift Leggings

“You know what goes best with an overpriced workout class? Overpriced workout clothes.” –Paige Kowal (Associate Account Manager)
