The nearly 200-year-old house Christofle, known for its innovative yet timeless approach to silver decor, has just launched a collaboration with jewelry designer Aurelie Bidermann dubbed Babylone—and I have swooned. The collection features 11 pieces of silver-plated dining and home decor and six pieces of sterling silver jewelry. Think: bisque porcelain dishes to silver-plated candlesticks to sterling silver jewels—starting at just $115 but unfortunately, heading well upwards from there.
Eponymous designer Bidermann drew inspiration from her own neighborhood in Paris. Specifically, she looked to the Rive Gauche area surrounding Rue de Babylone and its rich mix of Neoclassicism and Art Deco influences. She joins an impressive roster of Christofle's prior collaborators, including but not limited to Man Ray, Jean Cocteau, Gio Ponti, Karl Lagerfeld, and Andrée Putman, though she is the first jewelry designer on the list. I’d personally love nothing more than to fill my home with the silver delicacies of Christofle, but this collaboration appealed to me like never before. I hope to pop the ethereal centerpiece on the table of my next dinner party. And the way they styled the cuff over a black long sleeve—to die for!
