8 Celebrity-Approved It-Bags That Are Actually Practical

8 Celebrity-Approved It-Bags That Are Actually Practical

While celebrity style and practicality don't always go hand-in-hand, we've found that there are some applicable notes to be taken—especially when it comes to bag trends which have, thankfully, strayed from too tiny to be fully functional to large enough to carry everything that you need throughout the day. I've been thinking about bags that the fashion girl who works a 9 to 5 in a major city or that has to be away from home for an entire day would deem worth investing in—bags that will, because of how much they're being used, truly give you your money's worth.

After digging through photos of celebrities with enviable bag rotations that we all hope to someday own at least a quarter of, I’ve narrowed it down to these eight that are worth investing in, some of which debuted this year and others that have managed to stand the test of time and survived the cyclical nature of trends.

Chanel 25 Bag

Dua Lipa was the official face for the Chanel 25 handbag campaign back in 2025. The bag, a hobo style with relaxed silhouette, is available in three sizes and various materials: grained calfskin, suede, washed denim, tweed, and perforated calfskin.

Spotted on it-girl Amelia Gray as well as Sarah Pidgeon, Hailey Bieber, Lori Harvey, Hilary Duff, and Sarah Michelle Gellar (plus a star-studded campaign with Michelle Yeoh, Kim Kardashian, and Naomi Watts), Balenciaga's rodeo bag is characterized by it's modern silhouette, slouchy structure, and wide open look.

The Row Margaux

Coined "a future heirloom" by Vogue, The Row's Margaux plays a major role in the rotations of Kendall Jenner, Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence, and more. The design is minimal and it offers a quiet luxury aesthetic, but key details include the structured handles and functional buckle details on each end.

YSL Mombasa

This year, Saint Laurent made the wise choice to reissue the house's popular cary-all bag from the early aughts—and it-girls far and wide have already co-signed the decision. 2026 marked the return of the Mombasa Bag and this was announced with a campaign starring Bella Hadid who has been spotted everywhere from New York to LA with the bag slung over her shoulder. The bag is a hobo style and crescent shape hybrid: slouchy, casual, but structured and modern where it counts.

Demna first presented the the Borsetto (a combination of the word 'borsa' (Italian for 'bag') and 'morsetta' (Italian for 'horsebit') bag as a part of Gucci's Spring/Summer 2026 collection and they finally became available for the world to shop last month. Spotted the arms and shoulders of Vittoria Ceretti and Alex Consani, the bag is practical size in a rectangular silhouette with traces of the house's equestrian inspirations.

Co-signed by Rihanna, Jenna Ortega, Bella Hadid, and Anne Hathaway, the bag first presented through Alessandro Michele's Fall/Winter 2025 collection has quickly become a celebrity staple. It has '70s influences, a semi-structured silhouette, and features embellished feline heads, chain handles in addition to a leather strap, and the house's signature V logo.

Saint Laurent Le 5 à 7 Supple Bag

I believe that everyone needs a suede bag in their rotation—and Zoë Kravitz, arguably the queen of practical dressing, seems to agree. Also available in leather and a fun leopard print, the bag originally presented in Anthony Vaccarello's Spring 2021 show has understandably stood the test of time. The hobo-style shoulder bag is casual yet sleek, practically sized for all your daily necessities, and is complete with YSL monogram hardware that doubles as the fastener.
