And no, they are *not* jeans.
There’s always (always) going to be a very exclusive place in our hearts for a great pair of jeans, but because we wear them nearly every day, our legs feel that much more special (fancy, even) when we actually make an effort to wear a pair of trousers. This season, too, every store and website is chock-full of fancy pants we’d happily wear over our 501s—at least for a few days a week. No one, however, knows her way around a pair of trousers—and how to make them look just so sophisticated for the flock of street style photographers that seem to follow her every move—like Caroline Issa. She advised us on the one pair we all need to own this winter—designed by her, of course. And there’s plenty more where that came from: pink to printed; Stella McCartney to Topshop. Shelve the jeans for a sec and get on our level.
“Of course, I’m going to choose my ’90s-inspired light gray flannel wide-leg Nordstrom Signature and Caroline Issa trousers. I’d wear them with a pair of white sneakers and a cozy sweater. They are slightly slouchy with a tailored waist and all-important pockets. They’re versatile to wear on casual weekends, but also to work. My kind of trousers!”
Want more winter-appropriate, fancy trousers? Look no further. We’ve rounded up our favorite pairs for when you get sick of even your most favorite pair of jeans, and skirts and tights are out of the question.
