Halfway through the getting ready process, makeup artist Raisa Flowers realized that Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Draft outfit had changed. “At first, I thought they were doing the original black look,” she tells me over the phone. “But midway through the makeup, even before I started doing the eyes and lips, I asked, ‘Wait, what are you wearing?’ And good thing I did because I would’ve gone in a different direction and we had minimal time.”
Clark, the number one pick last night at the WNBA Draft, descended upon the orange carpet wearing a two-piece Prada satin shirt and miniskirt, paired with a Prada embroidered rhinestone mesh crop top. The outfit switch up led Flowers into a different direction, color-palette wise. “If she was going to wear the original look, [the makeup] would've been darker and deeper,” explains Flowers. “So I tried to give her something that was minimal, fresh, dewy, but just with a little pop [of color].”

To make a minimal makeup look pop under the lights of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where the draft took place, Flowers focused on prepping the skin with Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer, Full Orbit Eye Brightening Cream, and the newly formulated Invisible Shield SPF 50 Sunscreen, which launches today. Clark is the first person to wear the new launch.
Afterwards, she used The Stretch Foundation in Medium 1 to “give her face a really balanced color,” before brightening up Clark’s under eyes with Stretch Concealer. “It’s so creamy and goes on very smooth,” says Flowers. “It’s something that defines the look.” To set the base, Flowers powdered the skin without overdoing it: “The Glossier girl has some type of shine and dewiness on the skin, so I didn't want to mattify her skin too much.”

On the cheeks, Flowers used Cloud Paint in the shades Soar and Puff. “I mixed them together to create a rosy color on the cheeks, where it looks like the cheeks are pinched.” Next, she applied the Monochrome eyeshadows in Jute then tapped Lidstar in Moon on the center of the lid. “I wanted to add some glimmer, so that when the camera flashes, her lids will pop,” explains Flowers. To finish off the look, Flowers used Ultralip in the shades Pony and Cranberry before topping it off with a clear gloss. Every WNBA draft pick last night wore Glossier and those two Ultralip shades were also popular among the rest of the WNBA draft field.
