It's about to be loafer season again! And if I've learned anything throughout the past year—the year that I fell in love with loafers—it's that loafers aren't one note or one aesthetic. We saw loafers paired with leather pants on Miu Miu's Fall/Winter 2026 runway, with statement fur coats on Bottega Veneta's Fall/Winter 2026 runway, and heeled tasseled offerings with socks, skirts, and dresses on Ulla Johnson's Fall/Winter 2026 runway. They can be preppy, but when paired with socks or your favorite sport shorts they take a whole new form. There are no rules, and we wholeheartedly encourage you to pair them with the unexpected.

Now, team Coveteur is collectively working on expanding our loafer rotations. Our favorite picks are diverse in color, silhouette, and material, but with a couple of consistencies throughout. Spoiler: we have a thing for a perfectly ruched loafer.

Ahead, the best loafers that Coveteur editors own, as well as the new pairs we’re eyeing for fall.

Shop Editor-Picked Loafers:

Bared Footwear Chauna Loafers

"I love how sleek and minimalist these are. They're the type of loafer that can go with everything, and the arch support makes them extra-comfortable to wear all day." - Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Saint Laurent Le Loafers Supple

"I recently got these YSL loafers in a white leather and now need them in every color. The dark brown suede especially feels perfect for fall." - Faith Xue, Editor-in-Chief

Studio Nicholson Donovan Leather Loafers

"I love an easy shoe you can slip into and wear all day long, and this pair from Studio Nicholson is just that. The shoe blends a ballet flat with a loafer, with ruching at the heel to ensure that you're comfortable for all-day wear." - Jordan Rossman, Executive Editor

Jamie Haller Leather Penny Loafers

"I've heard so many great things about Jamie Haller's loafers, and while I don't own a pair yet, this light suede option has me very close to pushing purchase. I love the classic, menswear-inspired feel. Plus, the light hue makes them a great option for wearing during the daytime." - Jordan Rossman, Executive Editor

G.H. Bass Whitney Weejuns Penny Loafer

"I love a loafer, and these G.H. Bass ones have been in my wardrobe for years now. At this point, I’ve worn them with just about everything in my closet. Jeans, trousers, dresses, you name it. A true wardrobe staple!" - Kala Herh, Social Strategy Lead

Miista Els Mules

"When I’m feeling a little more dressed up, I like to reach for these Miista mules. I love that you can wear them as a slingback or fold the back down to turn them into a mule. I love anything versatile, and the fact that I can style these two different ways makes them even better." - Kala Herh, Social Strategy Lead

Ferragamo Gancini Loafer

"I have the classic black loafers that I wear every fall, but I’m really looking to expand my collection with a deep chocolate brown. The almond toe feels so chic to me, and it doesn’t get more iconic than a Ferragamo loafer." - Natasha Sheridan, Social Creative Lead

Pêche Hugh Loafers

"Every fall, my TikTok FYP gets a little too specific, and these have been dominating my feed. Honestly, the rave reviews are convincing. People say you can walk miles in them, no break-in time, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re very cute." - Natasha Sheridan, Social Creative Lead

Diesel Brown D-Amber Moc 30 Heels

"I'm a sucker for a heeled loafer and, as a 5'9 girl with no tolerance for shoe pain, a 1.5-inch heel is ideal for me. These are a statement and elevated without being overly dressy—the perfect balance, in my opinion." - Bianca Asare, Associate Editor

Reformation Francine Ruched Loafer

"I have Reformation's Ani Loafers in black—they're a similar design with the ruched detailing and all, but in a soft nappa leather. I wore them into the ground to the point that they're in desperate need of a trip to the cobbler, but how much I wore them affirmed that I am indeed a loafer girl. Now, I'm on the hunt for the perfect brown pair. I keep returning to these from Reformation for the shiny patent leather and, of course, the perfect ruching." - Bianca Asare, Associate Editor

Pêche Theo Loafers

"The Pêche Theo in brown is one of my favorite loafers. The color is so good, and I love the little tie detail because it makes it a bit more unique. I also love the style of the Dune loafer. They’re both extremely comfortable and breathable!" - Julia Mendelsohn, Designer

Miu Miu Embossed-Logo Loafers

"These are probably my #1 favorite loafers and shoes I own. I wore them for 25K + steps a day in Paris and had no issues. They slip on like slippers but still look chic enough to wear with pretty much everything!" - Julia Mendelsohn, Designer

Sézane Marceau Loafers

"A staple black loafer is a must-have in my closet. I love the relaxed structure of the upper, which contributes to their comfort. I can wear these all day long without getting blisters, and they can be dressed up or down." - McKenzie Stoute, Editorial Assistant

Stuart Weitzman Bryant Animal-Print Loafers

"I am going all in on calf hair this fall, and what is more fun than an animal print shoe. I've been eyeing these Stuart Weitzman loafers for some time now, not only because of the print but also because of the elastic heel, which you don't see often in a loafer. Pairing these with straight-leg jeans and a white tee would be my fall uniform." - McKenzie Stoute, Editorial Assistant
