A trip to London makes you want to dress up, stay out late, and soak up everything the city has to offer, but choosing the right hotel will set the tone for the whole trip. A chic lobby bar for the first drink of the night, an insta-worthy design, and a hot location are all part of the criteria––and I've rounded up the places that make that shortlist. As a fashion editor who has called London home for many years, both as a single gal and now a mom-of-two, I’ve made it my mission to find luxury hotel stays you don’t have to leave the city for, with style and vibe at the heart of my picks.
Here are six favorites, from a Soho design hideout, Hyde Park's most polished address, a buzzy former bank and a celeb hotspot—consider this your cheat sheet to checking in like a Londoner.
The Best Boutique Hotel: The NoMad
The NoMad may sound familiar to New Yorkers—it originally opened in Manhattan back in 2012. Since 2021, London opened its own rendition in collaboration with New York-based interior design studio Roman and Williams. You’ll find it standing proud in the heart of Covent Garden’s stylish address, occupying a former Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and police station facing the Royal Opera House. Everything about The NoMad is sexy, sleek and beautifully designed – much like the celebs spotted here (hi Alexa Chung). The courtyard restaurant takes centre stage and is just as appealing after dark as it is at breakfast. Art is layered across the walls, and the rooms give an aura of 1920s glamour rich in velvet and dark wood—somewhere you’ll be happy to start and finish your night.

The Best Modern Hotel: The Emory
The Emory is Belgravia’s first all-suite hotel and a modern masterpiece under the Maybourne Group alongside Claridge’s and The Connaught, so you know you’ll be in good hands at this beautifully bespoke British hotel. Panoramic Hyde Park views, an abundance of light, and creamy interiors paired with marble accents will make mornings feel like you’re waking up in the clouds. Harvey Nichols is just a five-minute walk for your Miu Miu loafers, and the celebrated Cédric Grolet’s pastry café at The Berkeley (next door) will be waiting for you on your return.
The Best Located Hotel: The Londoner
Dubbing itself a ‘super boutique hotel’, The Londoner sits in the city's famed Leicester Square and exudes everything you’d expect from a hotel slap bang in the middle of the eclectic West End. The rooftop bar and world-class Japanese izakaya called 8, are standouts amongst the six eateries on site, and a two-screen cinema means you’re never far from the drama. Splashes of artwork and bold colors are tastefully woven through a neutral palette with interior design by Yabu Pushelberg—the studio behind some of the world’s most renowned hotels. Start (or finish) your night down a narrow street in one of Soho’s trendy bars, but book yourself into The Retreat the next day, a whole floor dedicated to wellness—a welcome contrast to the bustling vibes outside.
The Best Design Hotel: Broadwick Soho
Entrepreneur Noel Hayden created Broadwick Soho as a love letter to his exuberant childhood growing up in his family’s hotel in the coastal town of Bournemouth. Enlisting lavish designer Martin Brudnizki and a group of talented friends to bring his vision to life, this hotel is really unlike any other in London. Fittingly for such a show-stopping address, Madonna chose to stay there in April 2025. It has the fun and frivolity of a girls’ weekend, mirroring the spirit of its prime postcode. Less like a hotel stay, more of an immersive cabaret performance, it’s a riot of flamboyant maximalism. Decadent velvet and silk-trim cushions, animal-print chairs, loud wallpaper and gold curtains are some of the design choices—it’s an Instagrammable favourite.
The Most Stylish Hotel: The Newman Hotel
Centrally located but set away from the tourist crowds, The Newman Hotel is quietly characterful, much like its Fitzrovia neighbourhood. Opened in February 2026, it has quickly become a favourite amongst the style set and is just minutes’ walk from the desirable Charlotte Street. Rooms have subtle art-deco design elements and an understated luxury that allows you to truly relax. Holistic wellness with a Nordic focus at the hotel's spa will restore balance, as will Brasserie Angelica’s weekend brunch after a night of cocktails in the local neighbourhood. The Newman is certainly a lesser-known gem that ranks high amongst its peers.
The Most Vibey Hotel: The Ned
It’s one of the city’s most stylish hotels and a known leisure destination in London’s financial district––high-profile musicians, DJs and actors are often sighted here. There’s no need to leave this hotel when it has 10 restaurants and 12 bars under one roof – you can enjoy a night out without requesting an Uber. The building itself is impressive and has many layers to explore, with the checkerboard flooring and marble columns on the ground floor reminiscent of its former headquarters as a bank. It’s on a huge scale, which just means all the more fun. Plus, the 1920s-inspired rooms, ranging from Crash Pads to super large suites, are all equally thought out, and guarantee a restful sleep when it’s time to call it a night.
