Basics haven and household name Banana Republic is collaborating with New York fashion sweetheart Peter Do on a collection coming this October. That’s a sentence I never thought I’d type, but after stewing with this seemingly unlikely pair, I understand the motives. Do’s eponymous brand offers an edgy, forward-thinking take on staple separates—the foundation of Banana Republic's brand. In bringing the collaboration to life, Do pulled inspiration from the Banana Republic archives. (It’s worth noting that there is currently nothing Instagram loves more than a deep dive into mass market brands’ ‘90s and early 2000s time capsules.)

The highly awaited capsule will include a range of utility silk shirting, soft knitwear, and tailored outerwear, each rendered in Do’s signature neutral palette. This comes in a long line of attempts from the familiar, even nostalgic brand to modernize their ethos. We can just picture the artfully cut-out khaki trench now. The collection will be available in select Banana Republic stores and online. Sign up here for updates on the launch.
