30 Pairs of Sneakers Coveteur Staffers Are Shopping

From classic Converse to the newest pair from Dior.

Fashion
sneakers spring 2020
A few years ago, when sneakers-with-everything emerged as a wildly popular trend, we were happy to exchange high heels for high-tops when heading to work, dinner, and late-night parties. And while you’ll still catch us in platforms, sandals, boots, and classic pumps, we’ve fully embraced the inherent cool (and comfort) that sneakers bring to a look. I often wear my Jordans with a midi skirt and crop top; senior beauty editor Hannah Baxter lays claim to a stellar collection of Vans that go perfectly with her many pairs of wide-legged trousers; and senior marketing manager Kelsey Dobbs, who doubles as Coveteur’s resident fitness enthusiast, is regularly spotted in sneakers with jeans (or dresses or leggings).

Suffice it to say, we couldn’t love sneakers more, especially during a time when at-home workouts and daily mental health walks have become cornerstones of our daily routines. Ahead, 30 pairs of sneakers our staffers are currently shopping.

Editorial Director

1. Nike AF1 Shadow SE: My two favorite types of shoes are sneakers and platforms. Combine them—and add glow-in-the-dark details—and I have no choice but to click “add to cart.”

2. B23 Dior and Daniel Arsham Low-Top Sneaker in “Newspaper” Print: Is there a print more iconic than that of the Dior newsprint? I say no, and I am thrilled about its revival. Currently crunching some numbers to make these mine.

3. Karhu Champion Air: I just spotted these on the Sneakersnstuff site, and I’m a big fan. The timeless, retro silhouette is one that I’ve yet to add to my sneaker collection, so maybe I need two pairs.

1. Vans Shearling Trim Slip-On Sneakers: I just recently snagged the faux-fur Vans checkerboard slip-ons, but my obsession with fuzzy sneakers is definitely just getting started. This oh-so-soft shearling pair will make great slippers until I can finally wear them outside again.

2. Converse Sunblocked Chuck 70: I spotted these sneakers first on Totokaelo, but they were sold out in my size. Luckily, I tracked them down and placed an order to replace my classic (but severely beat-up) white Chucks. I’m obsessed with them in every way, but the subtle orange details really get me.

3. Adidas Yeezy Powerphase Calabasas Core White: Apparently, I’m very into off-white sneakers at the moment. I’ve been eyeing the Yeezy Calabasas style for months, and conveniently, the price is lower than ever on StockX. Maybe it’s time to invest in this perfectly minimalist style.

1. Veja CondorMy at-home workout of choice is The Sculpt Society, an amazing mix of dance cardio and toning. The key to a great workout is a supportive pair of sneakers that can hold up to lots of jumping. This Veja pair can handle any dance-cardio move, plus the fun colorway is perfect for spring.

2. Superga Platform Sneaker: I picked up this white platform sneaker for my wedding—halfway through our party I changed into these, so I could dance all night. I have been wearing them nonstop ever since—they are perfect with jeans or a dress, and the height is an added bonus!

3. Adidas UltraBoost 20: There is nothing better than the start of the spring running season. While we may not have races to train for, I still love hitting the pavement. This pair by adidas is ultralight while still providing enough stability for long runs.

1. Axel Arigato Clean 90 Low Tops SneakersWhen it comes to sneakers, I’m definitely a minimalist. I like clean lines, simple colors, and a super sleek silhouette. I love pairing a really simple pair of white ones with feminine dresses during the summer.

2. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star: This is one of those If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it situations. I’ve been wearing converse high-tops consistently since I was in the seventh grade, and I still love them. I have yet to find an outfit that they don’t go with.

3. Cariuma Canvas Oca High Tops: Can you tell I’m a big fan of high-tops? These have been my go-to shoes for my daily outing of walking the dogs around the neighborhood. They are also ethically made, which always eases the guilt factor of purchasing.

Co-Founder and Creative Director

1. Common Projects Original Achilles Leather Sneakers: My everyday, everywhere staple! I always keep one dirty pair and one fresh pair on hand. Great sneaker to dress up or down, depending on the occasion.

2. Arc’teryx Norvan LD 2: I definitely like to get outdoors whenever I can! Going for a long hike or run always helps me clear my head. These will definitely be my go-tos. They are light and supportive, and perfect for all terrain.

3. Nike Air Max 1 G: I love what Nike Golf is doing in the footwear game these days. From Jordans to Air Maxes—every drop gets better and better. Excited to get my hands on these Air Max 1 Gs ASAP!

Editorial Production Fellow

1. Women’s Jordan OG: I love what Jordan is doing with creating more women’s sneakers. While these first came on the scene in 1998, they were re-released a few months back and have instantly become one of my favorite sneakers to date. The classic basketball-style silhouette is the perfect touch for a sporty-chic look.

2. Adidas x Wardrobe.NYC Yung-1: I actually own a very similar pair of Yung-1s already, but they’ve been through way too much to be revived. Being that these are the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever worn, it’s only right to buy them again, right? Not to mention, I love a gum sole!

3. Nike React Element 87: The workout sneakers I’ve used since my freshman year of college have finally been retired, and I’m long overdue for a new pair. I’ve been wanting to try the React line for quite some time now—such perfect timing.

Giselle Persak

Campaign Manager

1. New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 827 Abzorb: I would consider myself rather new to the sneaker game, so I, of course, missed the drop for these beauties and have had my eyes on them ever since. The pops of color would be sure to stand out from any sweat-suit outfit that I would very likely pair these with.

2. Nike Zoom x Vista Grind: I’ve been looking for a pair of shoes to spice up my daily dog walks or morning runs. As I am a sucker for a good chunky silhouette and bright colors, these caught my eyes right away.

3. Off-White 3.0 Low Top Sneakers: I’ve also had my eyes on these for a while—an upgrade to my current white sneakers, for sure.

Senior Manager of Sales and Brand Partnerships

1. Acne Studios Steffey Leather Sneakers: Hailing from one of my favorite Scandi ready-to-wear brands, these velcro leather babies are both perfectly stylish and practical.

2. New Balance 990v5: There’s a reason why these classic “dad” sneaks are making a huge comeback amongst the fashion-obsessed. While the grey Castlerock color is a no-fail wardrobe staple, I’m eyeing the Nimbus Cloud with Team Red colorway.

3. Soloman XT-6 ADV: When it comes to shoes, I’m all about comfort. I truly don’t see the purpose of sporting anything that is bound to make your toes and arches ache. These Soloman sneakers have been on my list for a while now. They are the ideal shoe for any type of terrain and would give any look some “sporty vibes.”

Leya Kaufman

Head of Sales and Brand Partnerships

1. Chloé Panelled Hi-Top Canvas Sneaker: Right now I’m drawn to elevated sneaker staples that are professional, casual, and effortlessly chic. Enter: Chloé. This modern nod to vintage high-tops pairs well with my A+ student vibes. But these shoes would arguably complete any girl’s work or weekend style.

2. Rothy’s Bright White Chelsea Boot: When I learned that Rothy’s signature thread is spun from repurposed water bottles (marine plastic collected around coastlines), I had to have these. I also love how they look with cropped denim or sweats.

3. Floral Adidas Superstar: I’ll also always gravitate towards the classics. And this spring spin on the adidas Superstar is an uncomplicated complement to any working mom’s style.

Ariane Martins

Manager of Experiential & Brand Partnerships

1. New Balance 801 x Paperboy Paris in “Ginger Lemonade”: Lately, and understandably, I’ve been embracing anything that evokes happy feelings and memories. This playful collab is inspired by signature items from the Paperboy menu in Paris, and this style celebrates their iced ginger lemonade (you can find the recipe printed on the sock liner).

2. Eytys Harmony in “Tumbled Taupe”: Since I’m already down memory lane... This new drop brings me right back to my middle-school surf/skate poser aesthetic when overly padded skate sneakers were all the rage amongst my fellow mall-rat sixth-graders frothing over Ryan Sheckler. Express shipping, please.

3. Converse x Golf Le Fleur* One Star in Burlap”: Tyler, The Creator’s reworked silhouette from a few years back is still my go-to with a pair of vintage light-wash jeans or a summer dress. Its burlap texture and signature flower in place of the usual one star is the subtle playfulness I’m loving these days.
