There’s truly nothing like the holidays in New York City. From the moment Santa Claus makes his debut at the Thanksgiving Day Parade until the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, the entire city is aglow with the sights and sounds of the season. One of our favorite (and most iconic) things to do in December is to visit Radio City Music Hall, located just a stone’s throw from the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, to see the Rockettes perform their Christmas Spectacular show. You know the one—the kick line! The outfits! The perfect red lipstick!
Since there’s nothing we love more than getting a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s most glamorous events, we happily found ourselves backstage with four Rockettes just a few weeks ago. Sophie Rose Holloway, Maile Makaafi, Hailee Snyder, and Christine Sienicki (who’s been a dancer with the Rockettes for 18 years!) let us in on everything from how to achieve that famous French twist to their favorite lipsticks to last throughout the 90-minute show, and the brand-new costumes, which boast a *staggering* amount of Swarovski crystals.
