Between bomb cyclones and below-zero temperatures, we’ve spent the past few weeks bundled up in layers, desperately trying to make our coats look cute. But not to worry: Future princess Meghan Markle just showed us the simple yet elevated way to do so, by making a styling choice anyone can—and should!—copy, ASAP. While stepping out with Prince Harry during the couple’s first public appearance of the year, Markle styled her beige Smythe coat with a matching scarf. It was cute. It was easy. And it was something that happens to be in line with one of the biggest trends of both this season and next—monochrome outfits.

So whether your coat is black, red, green, or even beige like Meghan’s, it might be time to invest in a scarf that’s a similar color. See how well she pulls it off in the slideshow ahead, and quickly get inspired.

For her first public appearance of the year, Meghan Markle wore a beige coat from the Toronto-based brand Smythe. While this particular colorway is sold out, a leopard version is currently available and retails for $995. She also wore Sarah Flint heels.
