Just like comfortable sneakers and wide-legged pants, highly practical backpacks are trending again for fall 2017. And thank goodness: Whether you’re a student, intern, or anyone else who just has to lug around a ton of sh*t, it’s nice to have an accessory option that won’t strain your back any time you want to, you know, actually carry something in it.

As the backpack’s popularity grows, so does the number of backpack styles you can find with each new season. This fall, we’ve got a little something for everyone, whether you want a mini backpack (there’s no shame in going the fashion-over-function route) or a massive pack to carry your whole life around in on a daily basis. As always, there’s plenty of canvas and leather for the backpack purists, but we also get our fair share of bold patterns, metallic finishes, and even some furry options. Scroll through to see the coolest backpacks available to buy right now.

Crushed Velvet Mini

Looking for a backpack to wear to all your holiday parties? This crushed velvet mini should do the trick.

Coat: Topshop. Earrings: The Last Line.

White Leather

This white leather bag is practically the definition of athleisure.

Dress: H&M.

Pink Fur

Have we died and gone to fluffy pink backpack heaven?!

Coat: Alice + Olivia by Stacy Bendet.

Yellow Nylon

This not-so-mellow yellow bag comes with a padded pocket made especially for a 13” laptop — and you can comfortably fit one up to 15 inches in the main compartment, too.

Sweater: Zadig & Voltaire. Earrings: The Last Line.

’90s Throwback

Excellent news: Urban Outfitters and Kipling have teamed up to bring back your favorite bag from the ’90s. We missed you, monkey keychain!

Sweater and skirt: Tory Burch.

Lemon Print

Your favorite source for trendy art prints is making backpacks now! You can choose from over a thousand of Society6’s patterns for your bag.

Dress: For Love and Lemons. Earrings: The Last Line

Double Denim

There’s no such thing as too much denim, especially when we're talking about a double-denim backpack with a handy padded laptop sleeve inside.

Jacket: Veda. Jeans: Moussy.

Camel Leather

This. Backpack. Is. So. Chic. Too small for a laptop, it’s more like a (cooler) substitute for your autumn purse.

Top and pants: Ulla Johnson.

Embroidery is also a massive trend for fall, but this pattern’s unexpected pastel coloring makes it particularly cool.

Shirt: Madewell. Skirt: Topshop.

Army Green

This backpack might be the most versatile on the list: It features dedicated slots for your gym sneakers, wallet, phone, lip balm, keys, and laptop, and is made of quick-drying neoprene.

Coat: The Arrivals.

Holographic Mini

Yes, it’s clear, but the holo finish makes it less easy for strangers to see all your stuff. Plus, it’s small enough to wear to parties without having to worry about whipping everyone in the face.

Top: H&M. Skirt: Topshop.

Dark Purple

If you’re seeking a backpack that goes above and beyond the average day-to-day wear, look no further. This one’s by far the biggest on this list, and features a solid bottom that won’t suffer wear and tear as quickly as your traditional, soft bag.

Dress: Coach.

Studded Black Mini

Is there anything cooler than leather and studs?

Jacket: The Arrivals. Pants: Zadig & Voltaire.

Abstract Camo

The not-quite-camo print on this polyester bag gets an extra dose of cool from the millennial pink accents.

Coat: Forever 21.

Maroon Canvas

Burgundy never really goes out of style for fall, and it’s close enough to a neutral to rock on an everyday basis.

Dress: Public School.

Black Bucket Bag

A black bucket bag goes with essentially every outfit, making this little number perfect for everyday wear.

Jacket and pants: Zadig & Voltaire.

Brown Leather Bucket

Unlike lots of drawstring bags, this sturdy leather one actually stays closed, no matter how much you stuff it.

Coat: Tory Burch.

Silver Nylon

The subtle reflective finish on this bag helps it stand out in a way that still goes well with any outfit you choose.

Top and Pants: Filles Papa.

Pink Paisley

For the preppier-minded, this Vineyard Vines number should be a dream come true.

Dress and coat: kate spade new york

Go forth and schlep, my friends.
