The Winter Cleanser One New York Writer Swears By

Our winter skin in a word: rough. On second thought, though, a season doesn’t go by when we don’t seem to have some form of skin struggle—it’s just that cold temperatures, plus heated indoors presents its own unique set of environmental epidermal challenges, mostly in the form of dryness, dullness, redness, patchiness, etc., etc. And with that in mind, if it weren’t considered completely unhygienic, we’d happily hold off on washing our faces for the next five months if only to avoid that shiver-inducing tightening that seems to inevitably immediately follow. You know? And so, fortunately, did New York-based writer and founder of professional women’s club The WW Club, Phoebe Lovatt. Which is why she switches up her cleansing routine to include a product that’s a little bit richer and not quite so detergent-focused.

“Im a big fan of Glossiers Milky Jelly, but in recent weeks Ive found myself craving something weightier. Most balms and oils are too heavy for my skin, but I do really like DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, which takes off all my makeup and never irritates my sensitive eyes. The packaging is chic, too.”

Here are 12 more of the best cleansing oils, powders, milks, and waters that will keep you squeaky-clean through the cold months ahead without leaving your skin parched.
