Doing Singapore the Kim Jones Way

When fashion, food, and art are 3 ingredients for the perfect vacation.

Doing Singapore the Kim Jones Way
Kim Jones

Sometimes we wish we could zig-zag around to all the glamorous international places our friends are visiting. Especially when said friend is Kim Jones and the place happens to be Singapore (we’re feeling extra jealous with the winter weather that just rolled in). Add in days focused around delicious meals, amazing exhibits, and attending *another* Fashion Week, and you’ve pretty much created our dream vacation. But since we couldn’t come along with her on this particular trip (total bummer), we had Jones document it all for us so that we could experience it vicariously through her.

“My work always brings me to Singapore, especially with Manila, my base, being so close by. Despite it being more of a business hub than a vacation destination for me, I always find that there is constantly something new to discover each time I visit. And the food alone is enough to keep me coming back. I travel based on my gut, literally.

“The young, creative energy in Singapore is very much alive through its coffee haunts, fashion boutiques, and the delicious plethora of chicken rice, street food, Hokkien Mee and Laksa, and Nasi Lemak options available for your (and my!) dining pleasure. Unfortunately, my expertise of traveling through Singapore doesn’t go beyond those three elements, as those are the three things I cherish most (don’t judge). This particular trip, however, I was invited by my good pal Yoyo Cao (who I shot with for Coveteur in Palm Springs in May a couple years back) for the showing of her latest collection along with Singapore-founded shoe brand Charles & Keith for a little something-something planned for the future.”
