Trust us, it’s *everything* goals.
Elyse Walker opened the Newport location of her namesake store a week ago, and already she’s met most of the neighbors. For her second location (the first is in the Palisades and has been expanded five (!!) times since opening in 1999), she’s taking extra care to meet the welcome wagon. The fashion mogul (and eye behind ultra luxe retail site FRWD.com) values the community around her store as much as the space itself.
Which isn’t to say that her new space isn’t completely breathtaking. From the hand-picked art on the walls to the tufted black velvet sectional smack-dab in the middle of the store, Walker’s number one priority was creating a retail space that felt as intimate and personal as her home. “When you come into the store, the biggest compliment I can get is ‘Elyse, I feel like I’m going in to your home,’” she says. From the racks (on racks) of Acne, McQueen and Saint Laurent, to the shiny new fine jewelry section, to the walls adorned with original works of art hand-picked by Elyse herself, we think we speak for everyone when we say we wish *our* homes looked like this.
