The Prettiest Clothing You’ll Wear This Fall

Lace: cliché? Or chic? It’s one of the many internal sartorial battles we deal with whenever we go shopping (also: chokers. Too Kardashian? Or perfectly Nineties?). We know. These choices are difficult and deserve careful deliberation (almost seriously, our cause of death will likely be indecision over blue or black denim).

Allow us to present a solution to ease all romantic-tinged fashion anxiety. Lace doesn’t need to be cheesy and definitely isn’t cliché—in fact, there should be a positive correlation graph drawn to chart the relationship between high necks and the level of sheer lace.

Here’s what we recommend: If you wear lace, make it special. Like Jonathan Simkhai’s mind blowing, webby weave, or a super delicate, nearly not there lace by Zimmermann. The best thing about these dresses—as well as the Seventies reminiscent swishiness of floral and star-printed frocks by the likes of Cinq à Sept, Theory and See by Chloé—is that they represent the kind of romance that stands in complete opposition to the damsel in distress thing that usually comes to mind. This is take no prisoners romance, and the kind of authoritative fashion that inspires decisiveness. Lace is chic.
