How to Spend Your Tax Return
While taxes are most definitely a huge, six-inch-stilettos-all-day level pain in the ass (we’ll admit to being guilty of the last minute accountant call, ourselves), there is one, kind of major, silver lining: the return. Save for a few key September issues, it might just be the best mail we get all year long. And since it’s the closest thing we can think of to free money (save for finding a long forgotten twenty in an old Isabel Marant coat), we figure you might as well spend it extra, ahem, specially. ‘Cause there’s nothing like a pair of Valentinos to take your tax return off your hands—are we right, Eva Chen, or what?

We mean, no one knows where their tax return would be best put to use than a collection of fashion editors, stylists and bloggers. So we called in the best in the business to hear exactly where their own special little cheques would be going. Some highlights: a few pairs of summer sandals (we can’t wait for the whole sandals being appropriate daytime footwear thing either, Caroline Issa), a denim vegan backpack and a seriously blinged-out whopper of a ring. And if your cheque just so happens to be unexpectedly large (aren’t those the best kinds of surprises?), think of this as your spending guide. We mean, in this case, more is definitely, well, more, right?

“I adore these sandals. First of all, I can only hope London will have weather I can get my toes out for and, if not, I'll be dreaming of an Italian escapist holiday somewhere to wear these. And the hardware and tri-color look are two more reasons I hope to spend my money on these!”

“My one 'must have' of the season are the amazing studded ankle boots from Junya Watanabe. They're a throwback from the Fall 2006 Junya collection—my all time favorite—and now they've brought them back for spring 2014. Happy days!”

“I love Marie Helene de Taillac jewelry—her stones are great. I always like when classic things have something unique and the crown makes it special”

“I’m dying to splurge on this Stella McCartney washed denim Falabella backpack from Browns in London. I’m cruelty-free, so most of my bags are from Stella—but I’ve never gotten a backpack from her and the fact that this is denim with pink trim and has the chic Falabella chain detail makes it too glamorous and practical to pass up!”

“I've pretty much wanted a personalized Edie Parker clutch since Brett Heyman started making them. Everyone who is close to me calls me FRIEDS, so I think it would be fitting for me to blow my tax return on a FRIEDS bespoke clutch.”

These are going to be the shoes I live in over the summer. Distressed denim skirt (I am over jean shorts, to be frank), slouchy Pickwick Weller t-shirt… and these shoes—all I need. Oh, and a pair of Fendi Iridia sunglasses. Oh, and a Mansur Gavriel cognac bucket bag. And sunscreen. That's all!”

Susie Bubble

“This is a key piece from one of my favorite collections of the season. I don't think any other designer has approached the floral print with such scientific precision!”

Tax Return Splurge

"I am mesmerized by the idea that the meteorite in this ring impacted the earth a million years ago. The geometric pattern that is distinct to each piece is a natural development. It's a one-of-a-kind beauty that I dream of splurging on."
