Where New Yorkers Are Shopping in 2019

Yes, physical stores are still a thing!

The retail landscape has changed drastically over the past decade. Weekends at the mall have been replaced with midday Net-A-Porter scrolls, buying black-tie pieces has morphed into renting them, and among all the uses of one’s phone, shopping on The Outnet app is by far the most thrilling (if you ask us). Still, there’s nothing like being able to see, touch, and try clothes on before you buy them. And with the growing appeal of online shopping, physical stores have become far more than simple spaces filled with racks of clothes—some are full-on destinations, complete with stunning interiors, cafés, and a packed events calendar.

New Yorkers, of course, have many shopping options, though there are a few standouts as of late. Here’s where they’re shopping in 2019.

NYC’s Seaport District became much cooler last year with the arrival of Milan-based concept store 10 Corso Como. Books, art, sneakers, a delicious restaurant—it has it all. The selection of fashion, ranging from Alaïa to Vetements, is among the best in the city.

Not surprisingly, the store founded by Rei Kawakubo in London has become wildly popular in NYC. If you’re looking for your fix of Comme des Garçons (or Thom Brown, or Sacai, or Rick Owens, or Margiela), it’s here.

The whole everythings bigger in Texas mantra really rings true with the Dallas-based fashion, art, and design store, which opened a sprawling location in Hudson Yards earlier this year. You’ll get lost in the displays of Monse, Brock Collection, and Rosie Assoulin, and that’ll be a good thing.

Three years after launching as a direct-to-consumer label specializing in stripped pieces and easy separates, La Ligne opened an NYC flagship back in May. Still shopping for summer? All the flowy dresses, lightweight pants, and soft tanks you desire are inside.

If you, like us, spend *a lot* of time prowling the luxury resale market, you’ll understand our obsession with Rebag. Their selection of pre-owned bags—CHANEL, Dior, Gucci, Hermès, Saint Laurent, etc.—is incredible, and in addition to browsing them online, you can see (and shop!) troves in real life at the retail store in Manhattan.

The couple behind Intermix, Sari Sloane, and Haro Keledjian brought a California-cool aesthetic to NYC with the Westside. The tees, jeans, dresses and knits here are as comfortable as they are elevated, and if you’re shopping for a little one, the children’s offshoot, Everafter, is right next door to both Manhattan locations.

When Rihanna debuted her LVMH-backed FENTY line to the press, she did it here. Suffice it to say, the Miami-based boutique is brimming with the most sought-after designer pieces, from The Row, Chloé, Altuzarra, and more. Extra points for the statement, art-deco-inspired decor.
